We thought it was going to rain. Because, oh boy, it had been raining. All day. All week. Right up until about twenty minute before we were scheduled to shoot. So we drove down to the inlet, and we just hoped for the best so we could capture some family portraits and six-month-old baby photos during their vacation.
As it turned out, “the best” was exactly what happened. From the skies clearing to a baby that smiled and giggled nearly nonstop, we had such a wonderful evening for their Ponce Inlet family portraits! What is even cuter than baby toes? Sandy baby toes. And the way this little guy chilled out in his baby-sized Adirondack was adorable! The afternoon storms had chased the beachgoers away — we had the entire inlet to ourselves.
And major props to this family for figuring out exactly what shades the sea and sky would be that day, and matching them perfectly!
What I said about this baby grinning and giggling the entire time was not an exaggeration. It’s even his default when he gets sleepy: instead of getting cranky, he gets slap-happy and just laughs even more! Which was fantastic that evening, since we shot straight through bedtime.
When the sun really burst through the clouds, we headed off the Atlantic side and back into the inlet itself, with a couple stops along the way…
…for some golden hour magic on the boardwalk.
This, my friends, is what it looks like to take couple portraits when they have a tiny toddler.
And this is one of the portraits the little guy on my hip helped me capture!
We went wading in the warm, calm inlet to cap off the evening.
And it was such a glorious end to a gorgeous evening!
Thank you three for choosing me to capture it with you!
