Well, 2016 is almost a wrap. We’re down to the final handful of hours.
This year overflowed with portrait sessions — families. Engagements. Newborns. Seniors. Equestrian. An editorial shoot. One vow renewal. One elopement. Two adoptions, one domestic and one halfway around the world. We photographed our family in July. We photographed ourselves as snowflakes fell on a rooftop in Manhattan in November.
In many ways, 2016 was a banner year. We did some traveling, we did some long-awaited home updating, we did some serious visiting with family and friends, and we checked off some big goals we’ve had on our to-do list for years. Although it was the first year since 2010 that we didn’t shoot a wedding, we worked with more photography clients than in any previous years, and we’ve never been more proud of the work we produced. But I would be lying if I simply said something like, “2016 has been a great year!” It has been great, but it’s also been hard. At every turn, there seemed to be some new tragedy or struggle among the people we love.
But there was also so much beauty in this year. So much growth. So much joy after, or even in, all the tragedy and struggle.
We are ready to usher in 2017, and we’re praying for a year of more peace and less hardship for for so many people we love.
Thank you, so much, to our friends and family and clients, for being a part of this past year and a part of our lives.
