I've
always been
storyteller.

But I never set out to be a photographer. I was (and still am!) going to be a writer. And then as I worked toward that writing goal, someone put a camera in my hand and asked me to try telling stories with something besides words. So with an English nerd's love for character and tone, a romantic's love for poignant beauty, and a realist's love for imperfection, I dove in.

I've
always been a
story-teller.

That was back in 2010.

Since that time, photography has changed much of my life. It's brought me some of my dearest friends. It's reshaped the way my husband Danny and I view serving others. It has even literally taken me around the world. One thing that hasn't changed: my soul-stirring desire to tell stories that feel so real you're sure you knew them before you heard them. Or saw them. It's my privilege to tell those stories for my clients, and for the generations of their families still to come.

Let the Countdown Begin for Imaging USA 2012!

Tuesday, December 20th, 2011

As much as I love Christmas (because it is, after all, the most wonderful time of the year), I can’t wait for January. Specifically, I can’t wait for January in New Orleans. It’s not exactly a vacation, but Danny and I are headed to the Big Easy for the first time, and in some ways it’s even better than a vacation: We’re going to the Professional Photographers of America annual conference, Imaging USA, and it’s less than a month away.

There’s a lot of chatter online between photographers who are heading to Imaging, and I’m excited to join everyone there. Huge photography expo, several days of workshops and seminars with some of the top photographers in the country, and a chance to meet and mingle with other professionals — what’s not to be excited about?!

Danny and I are committed to constantly growing and improving, for our clients, and for ourselves. That’s the great thing about having a job you love: You want to keep learning, getting better, becoming more knowledgeable. From here on, we’ve decided we’ll be attending at least a couple of photography conventions and workshops every year, which will help us push ourselves on both the creative and business sides of this profession. I’m looking forward to our first Imaging conference — and all the gumbo, muffulettas, and beignets New Orleans has to offer. My mouth is watering just thinking about it!
