I've
always been
storyteller.

But I never set out to be a photographer. I was (and still am!) going to be a writer. And then as I worked toward that writing goal, someone put a camera in my hand and asked me to try telling stories with something besides words. So with an English nerd's love for character and tone, a romantic's love for poignant beauty, and a realist's love for imperfection, I dove in.

I've
always been a
story-teller.

That was back in 2010.

Since that time, photography has changed much of my life. It's brought me some of my dearest friends. It's reshaped the way my husband Danny and I view serving others. It has even literally taken me around the world. One thing that hasn't changed: my soul-stirring desire to tell stories that feel so real you're sure you knew them before you heard them. Or saw them. It's my privilege to tell those stories for my clients, and for the generations of their families still to come.

Sassy Sweetery – A Delicious Preview from One of Central Florida’s Premiere Wedding Cake Designers | Florida Wedding Photography

Thursday, February 9th, 2012

When I met Chelsea last summer, I knew she was an entrepreneur in every sense of the word. She founded Sassy Sweetery, her dessert company specializing in wedding and event cakes and cupcakes, in 2010, and worked fast (and hard!) as her business took off, riding the wave of some really great word of mouth publicity. And it should be great: Chelsea’s cakes are not only beautiful but absolutely mouthwatering (her buttercream frosting is the fluffiest, lightest, most amazing buttercream I’ve ever tasted). Her service is impeccable. Her business savvy should inspire confidence in every bride who works with her.

Chelsea and I have worked together several times — a wedding, a styled shoot, a really fun portrait session I did with Chloe, one of her younger sisters. And then yesterday we had a blast shooting an array of her Sassy Sweetery specialties, whipped up with the help of her kitchen assistant Christen (another of her sisters) for her in-the-works new website. It was a visual feast . . . and a quite literal feast. And I must get my hands on some more of those coconut cupcakes.
If you’re looking for a fun idea for Valentine’s Day, ask Chelsea about her wonderful cupcake bouquets!
Thanks for the great afternoon, Chelsea.
