I've
always been
storyteller.

But I never set out to be a photographer. I was (and still am!) going to be a writer. And then as I worked toward that writing goal, someone put a camera in my hand and asked me to try telling stories with something besides words. So with an English nerd's love for character and tone, a romantic's love for poignant beauty, and a realist's love for imperfection, I dove in.

I've
always been a
story-teller.

That was back in 2010.

Since that time, photography has changed much of my life. It's brought me some of my dearest friends. It's reshaped the way my husband Danny and I view serving others. It has even literally taken me around the world. One thing that hasn't changed: my soul-stirring desire to tell stories that feel so real you're sure you knew them before you heard them. Or saw them. It's my privilege to tell those stories for my clients, and for the generations of their families still to come.

Introducing . . . Some Exciting New Changes! | Central Florida Wedding Photographers

Monday, March 5th, 2012

From about age six on, I spent my entire childhood and teenaged years (and quite a bit of time right up into the present, too) writing short stories, poems, and novels (the latter of which I almost never completed). No matter the genre, I was a continuous editor — and I think that might be at least partly to blame from my serious lack of finished novels. As I wrote, I would simultaneously rewrite, tweaking, improving, developing, expanding. It was hard for me to ever accept anything as “done,” because I knew with each new word that I could still make it better. It could always be better.

I have a similar, constantly-tweaking approach when it comes to this photography business. Danny and I regularly update our website, we adjust our packages every few months, we offer new products and remove others from our options. That’s all because we want to provide the best service and experience for our incredible couples, and because we’re trying to build a business that fits us beautifully, too.

To those ends, we’re going to be rolling out some really fun new changes. Some of them I’m not quite ready to announce — but will be very soon. Other changes I’m ready to talk about right now: This blog is going to change a bit and become more structured. It’s going to change in ways that are designed for you readers. I’ll begin sharing “Wedding 101” columns filled with advice and ideas for brides and grooms . . . and bridesmaids, groomsmen, family members — anyone who’s involved in an upcoming wedding. I’ll also feature more blog posts that will offer tips for your own photography, the occasional contribution from our couples, and more blog posts that will invite you into the life Danny and I share when we’re not behind the lens. Who knows — you might start seeing favorite recipes pop up in the personal blog posts, or lists of my favorite reads, or funny stories from my childhood.

Maybe some of those stories will even be about those unfinished novels.

I hope you’ll stick around to see what’s in store, and I hope you’ll let me know what you’d like to see on the blog! Don’t be shy — shoot me an email, let me know what you want to read about! I’m so excited to put these changes into motion, and I’d love to have you be a part of them.

PS: These awesome chocolate covered strawberries arrived from Nikole and Arun last Friday — what a great surprise, and a great way to start our weekend! Needless to say, far fewer strawberries are still left in the box. . . .
