I've
always been
storyteller.

But I never set out to be a photographer. I was (and still am!) going to be a writer. And then as I worked toward that writing goal, someone put a camera in my hand and asked me to try telling stories with something besides words. So with an English nerd's love for character and tone, a romantic's love for poignant beauty, and a realist's love for imperfection, I dove in.

I've
always been a
story-teller.

That was back in 2010.

Since that time, photography has changed much of my life. It's brought me some of my dearest friends. It's reshaped the way my husband Danny and I view serving others. It has even literally taken me around the world. One thing that hasn't changed: my soul-stirring desire to tell stories that feel so real you're sure you knew them before you heard them. Or saw them. It's my privilege to tell those stories for my clients, and for the generations of their families still to come.

Tricia + Jonathan – Downtown St. Augustine Engagement Portraits | St. Augustine Wedding and Engagement Photography

Monday, August 27th, 2012

This is the tale of an engagement session that I felt sure wouldn’t happen — or, if it did, would get blown out to sea by the gale-force winds and driving rain that descended on St. Augustine an hour before Tricia and Jonathan were supposed to start dancing in front of the cameras. But the four of us came prepared with four umbrellas, the storm graciously stepped aside to give us some rain-free shooting time, and Tricia and Jonathan laughed and smooched their way through the heart of St. Augustine.

The sun could have been out in full force, or our umbrellas could have gotten snapped inside out from the wind, and I really don’t think these two would have cared either way. They were too busy joking with each other, and talking about how eagerly they’re anticipating their September wedding in Jacksonville, and just soaking up each other’s company. Because, as Tricia pointed out, on a scale of 1 to 10, she thinks Jonathan is at least an 8 . . . wink-wink.

Tricia and Jonathan, it’s pretty clear you both know you’ve found someone who’s a perfect 10 for you!  Favorite alert!
There was so much smiling going on! Doesn’t it almost make your cheeks hurt just looking at all these smiles?!

Then something wonderful happened: The sun came out and turned the entire riverfront into a glorious watercolor. Picture perfect, you two.
The waterfront was gorgeous — but so are St. Augustine’s famous side streets. So Tricia and Jonathan led the way for some more exploring. And adorableness. And, of course, laughing.Oh, hey, horse.

Tricia, Jonthan, we had so much fun with you two on that blustery afternoon — getting chased down the street by mosquitoes and playing dodge-the-rain with our umbrellas and all! We’re so excited for the two of you as you prepare to start an incredible new phase of your life together, and we can’t wait to be there for your wedding next month — as your photographers, and as your friends, (and in Danny’s case, as your groomsman!). May these next few weeks as you count down to becoming Mr. and Mrs. be some of the most blessed!
