I've
always been
storyteller.

But I never set out to be a photographer. I was (and still am!) going to be a writer. And then as I worked toward that writing goal, someone put a camera in my hand and asked me to try telling stories with something besides words. So with an English nerd's love for character and tone, a romantic's love for poignant beauty, and a realist's love for imperfection, I dove in.

I've
always been a
story-teller.

That was back in 2010.

Since that time, photography has changed much of my life. It's brought me some of my dearest friends. It's reshaped the way my husband Danny and I view serving others. It has even literally taken me around the world. One thing that hasn't changed: my soul-stirring desire to tell stories that feel so real you're sure you knew them before you heard them. Or saw them. It's my privilege to tell those stories for my clients, and for the generations of their families still to come.

Mini Makeover: Blog Edition | Florida and Virginia Wedding Photographers

Wednesday, September 5th, 2012

It was time. Really, it was time. Our blog needed an overhaul . . . so that’s what it got. The cyber equivalent of a new haircut, new wardrobe, and an updated attitude to go with it.

So why the change? Well, we want our blog to look like our website, so they’re two cohesive pieces of our overall look. Our brand. Our visual identity, if you’d prefer. Now they do look alike. Like twins — the fraternal kind. They’ll both be undergoing some more tweaks and plucks and possibly even some radical plastic surgery in the coming months. Just stick around and see!

You might also notice the badges running down the left side of the blog. We’re pretty excited about those! One click, and they’ll send you right over to our published features. The list of badges will be growing longer this fall as more of our couples take center stage on some more great wedding blogs.

And two more exciting new updates:

First off, you can now comment on our blog posts via Facebook! That’s right — no more writing your name and leaving an email address; if you’re logged in to Facebook, you’re logged in to comment on the blog, so comment away!

Secondly, for all you avid Pinners out there (you know who you are, so don’t try to hide it!) you can now pin photos straight from our blog! Hover over any photo and the Pin It button appears. It’s like magic. I’m pretty sure it is magic.Danny and I are so excited with the fantastic couples we’re working with this fall, with all these changes we’re implementing in our business, and with the direction this photography thing is headed. Honestly, when I was a kid determined to make a living with storytelling, I never dreamed that this is how I would wind up doing it — and how much I would absolutely love it, and love getting to work with my husband as we meet new people and make new friends along the way! So let me just take the opportunity to thank each and every one of you who has made this job so much more fun than a “job.” Whether Danny and I are meeting new couples, shooting, or designing albums, we’re having way too much fun — and we’re so glad this blog gives us the opportunity to share it with you!
