We’ve wrapped up our engagement sessions for 2012, and tomorrow marks our 14th and final wedding of the year. So I thought this seemed like the perfect time to revisit this year’s engagement sessions and share a few of my favorite images of 2012. . . .
At the beginning of January, we played around Downtown St. Augustine with Kaci and Frank. We dodged tourists, laughed until our sides hurt, and enjoyed the gorgeous winter afternoon.Later in January, we met up with Nikole and Arun in Ormond Beach. This session, filled with skateboards and giggling (Nikole giggled, Arun laughed — I promise!) holds a special place in my heart, since it was our first feature ever published. It was on Le Magnifique last March. The next month, Taylor and Jerry made my fairy tale dream come true by having us photograph not only the two of them looking incredibly in love, but some truly magical horses. And I am so excited to announce that you’ll be seeing this shoot published on one of our favorite wedding blogs in January. In March, we went back up to St. Augustine with Kristy and Nick on a windswept day that made for some really romantic portraits against the colorful backdrops of the historic downtown. On the first day of April, we met Laura and Sam in Winter Park. These two were great. So was the sunlight, and so was the soft spring day. And so was the Mexican food we enjoyed afterward.A couple weeks later, it was Claire and Bill‘s turn. The day of their engagement session in Ponce Inlet was drizzly and gray . . . and then it turned into the most beautiful backdrop we could have imaged. They rolled with the punches, and we had a wonderful time.We shot Jennifer and Cheddy‘s engagement session at Rollins College, Jennifers’s alma mater in Winter Park, in May, when Cheddy flew into the country to join Jennifer for their wedding. We had a blast with them, exploring the lakefront, unexpectedly befriending lizards, and having an impromptu dance lesson. At the beginning of June, Danny and I went up to Virginia, where we got together with Sharon and Harrison at Sharon and Danny’s alma mater, the University of Virginia . . . during reunion weekend. We had to shoot around literally hundreds and hundreds of people enjoying dinner parties on the beautiful Grounds at UVA — but it was absolutely worth it. We weren’t the only ones who thought so: Their session was published on Borrowed & Bleu in October. It was almost two months before our next engagement session, when Tammy and Marc looked effortlessly cool and comfortable in front of the camera on what was surely the stickiest, hottest day of the year in Orlando. Our last St. Augustine shoot of the year was with Tricia and Jonathan in August — on another stormy, rainy day that turned bright and sunshiny, but not before we’d gotten to have some fun with umbrellas, and gotten thoroughly splashed as we explored the sidestreets downtown. Our next engagement was in early October, when Molly and Oscar joined us in Ponce Inlet on yet another stormy day — are you sensing a trend here? Yes, it rains a lot in Florida from early spring until late fall! But we waited out the rain and were rewarded with the most gorgeous sunset for these two!We wrapped up our engagements this year later in October, with Caitlin and David‘s amazing New Smyrna Beach session that was filled with the kind of watercolor palette I literally dream about. These two were so happy and so in love, and we couldn’t have ended the year on a better note.So that about sums things up: 2012 was a great year for fabulous engagement sessions with our couples! Thanks again to each and every one of you for being so wonderful!
