I've
always been
storyteller.

But I never set out to be a photographer. I was (and still am!) going to be a writer. And then as I worked toward that writing goal, someone put a camera in my hand and asked me to try telling stories with something besides words. So with an English nerd's love for character and tone, a romantic's love for poignant beauty, and a realist's love for imperfection, I dove in.

I've
always been a
story-teller.

That was back in 2010.

Since that time, photography has changed much of my life. It's brought me some of my dearest friends. It's reshaped the way my husband Danny and I view serving others. It has even literally taken me around the world. One thing that hasn't changed: my soul-stirring desire to tell stories that feel so real you're sure you knew them before you heard them. Or saw them. It's my privilege to tell those stories for my clients, and for the generations of their families still to come.

Mirabella Salon – The Grand Opening

Monday, April 15th, 2013

I don’t know about you, but I’d never been to the grand opening of a salon before. Much less a grand opening with the kind of decor, ambiance, food, and desserts you would find at a gorgeous wedding.

But that’s what happened last Friday when the beautiful Mirabella Salon in Port Orange opened its doors with a party that set the bar pretty high. Other salons planning grand openings, be warned — a serious gauntlet has been thrown down! This place looks amazingly tranquil, chic, and inviting on even a normal day — but that night was something seriously special.

I know Shannon and Nikki, the salon’s co-owners, worked so hard to pull off this event, and they had help from some amazing professionals. Take a look at the prettiness Rachael Kasie Designs dreamed up, and I hope you can imagine just how tasty the food from Spanish River Grill and sweets from Vanilla Bean Cupcake Bakery were!

I’m not gonna lie, I wanted to tuck this big, beautiful flower arrangement under my arm and sneak it out to my car at the end of the night. . . . The flowers (and those lovely linens) weren’t the only pretty things in the room. The food! Oh my, if your mouth isn’t watering just looking at these mini empanadas, the shrimp with blood oranges, and delicious paninnis, I think you must not have any taste buds! Let me assure you, everything was as good as it looked. And don’t forget dessert. Danny and I made sure we didn’t. One and a half times each. Then, as all the guests arrived, things got really busy for the ladies who made it all happen. Or, maybe after all their hard work, it felt like things finally calmed down!Shannon and Nikki, we wish you the very best of luck in your new venture as salon owners after years building your reputations as some of the best in business in the area. We can’t wait to send our brides to you so you can work your magic!
