I've
always been
storyteller.

But I never set out to be a photographer. I was (and still am!) going to be a writer. And then as I worked toward that writing goal, someone put a camera in my hand and asked me to try telling stories with something besides words. So with an English nerd's love for character and tone, a romantic's love for poignant beauty, and a realist's love for imperfection, I dove in.

I've
always been a
story-teller.

That was back in 2010.

Since that time, photography has changed much of my life. It's brought me some of my dearest friends. It's reshaped the way my husband Danny and I view serving others. It has even literally taken me around the world. One thing that hasn't changed: my soul-stirring desire to tell stories that feel so real you're sure you knew them before you heard them. Or saw them. It's my privilege to tell those stories for my clients, and for the generations of their families still to come.

Callie + Phil – A Dubsdread Wedding | Orlando Florida Wedding Photographers

Tuesday, June 11th, 2013

In the history of weddings, there might never have been a couple more truly excited to become each other’s one and only. In the history of first looks, there might never have been one so full-to-bursting with joy and giddiness and satisfaction.

In the history of marriages, I think this one is going to rank very, very high in happiness.

Callie and Phil celebrated their ceremony at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church, the church where Callie was raised, and their Dubsdread wedding reception at the beginning of the month. It was one of the most emotion-filled weddings we’ve had the pleasure of photographing, and just as beautiful as their Smyrna Dunes park engagement session a couple months earlier. From Callie and Phil’s sweet first look to the equally-sweet father-daughter first look; from the prayers the bridesmaids and Callie’s mother, sisters, and pastor prayed over her before the ceremony to the tear-stained dances at the reception, it was life at its most beautiful. While Callie prepped with the ladies, Phil got ready with the guys. Then, Phil was ready for his bride. Was he ever. And was she ever ready for him. Their first look, in the sanctuary at St. Luke’s, was utterly joyous. We took the opportunity for some portraits in that glorious sanctuary light — and the results give me goosebumps. Is Callie’s bouquet, from Fairbanks Florist, not one of the most spectacular bridal bouquets you’ve ever seen? After Callie and Phil had their first look, we brought Callie’s dad, Gary, in for his own first look with his daughter . . . and his other daughters, and Callie’s mother, Debbie, and Phil, their soon-to-be-son. I’ll admit to a few tears welling up in my eyes when I saw these next few pictures. And this has become one of our all-time favorite wedding photographs:See what I mean? It was a tear-jerker of an afternoon. Finally being Mr. and Mrs. has got to be the best feeling ever!We headed to Dubsdread, where Callie and Phil’s beautiful red and black reception was set up in the gorgeous ballroom. And the cakes! Party Flavors, once again, delivered some serious gorgeousness. In what could have turned into the sad conclusion of the night, Callie began feeling ill by the time they arrived at Dubsdread — but after a while, she changed into her cooler going away dress and joined the party, and the grace and appreciation she showed all her guests that evening, as she was struggling to simply feel well, was incredible. There was so much joy on her face, when she could have reacted with anger. Instead, she and Phil savored their reception with their friends and family, and they savored it to the fullest.Callie’s dance with her dad, and Phil’s dance with his mom, were just as sweet as the first dance. Proof: Their guests were crying right along with them. With The Buzzcatz keeping everyone on the dance floor this evening turned into a party! And it was a wonderful start to their marriage. To see even more from Callie and Phil’s wedding day, watch their slideshow below, and be sure to swing by their PASS gallery (their gallery will go live Tuesday afternoon!)

Callie and Phil — we were so happy to be there for your wedding, and even happier that you two are married now, and starting the life you’ve been dreaming about! We cannot wait to see what comes next for the two of of you!
