Gorgeous couple. Gorgeous location. Gorgeous fall afternoon. It was a definite recipe for success.
Back on their wedding day, Callie and Phil had to forgo golden hour portraits because Callie wasn’t feeling very well — and I told her on Monday, as we photographed against the apricot background of the striking sunset, that might have turned out to be a little bit of a blessing in the end. Because Monday, when we shot their After the Altar portraits at the Historic Dubsdread Ballroom, was one of the most beautiful days we’ve enjoyed all year, and the resulting photographs are some of my favorite portraits we’ve ever captured. It was clear right away that Callie and Phil were incredibly relaxed — since there weren’t any wedding day jitters, and because we had an hour and a half set aside just to have fun and get some great portraits around Dubsdread, a place that has been special to Phil’s family since he was young. And we most definitely had fun.I love these next three pictures so much! And then we headed into the true golden hour, and things started to get really amazing. It looks absolutely enchanted, doesn’t it?
They told us that this wasn’t Callie’s original veil — their dog, in a fit of homesickness, ate it while they were on their honeymoon. But I’m so glad Callie got a replacement for this shoot; I can’t get enough of the way sunlight filters through wedding veils.
And Callie, you looked incredible!Callie and Phil — I am so, so glad we got to do this After the Altar session with you two, and even happier to hear how much you two are loving the first months of your marriage. May the months and years to come be even more blessed!
