I've
always been
storyteller.

But I never set out to be a photographer. I was (and still am!) going to be a writer. And then as I worked toward that writing goal, someone put a camera in my hand and asked me to try telling stories with something besides words. So with an English nerd's love for character and tone, a romantic's love for poignant beauty, and a realist's love for imperfection, I dove in.

I've
always been a
story-teller.

That was back in 2010.

Since that time, photography has changed much of my life. It's brought me some of my dearest friends. It's reshaped the way my husband Danny and I view serving others. It has even literally taken me around the world. One thing that hasn't changed: my soul-stirring desire to tell stories that feel so real you're sure you knew them before you heard them. Or saw them. It's my privilege to tell those stories for my clients, and for the generations of their families still to come.

A Christmas Gift: We’re Giving Away a Portrait Session for the Holidays!

Friday, December 6th, 2013

It’s that time of year when I’m in gift-giving mode. And I don’t know why we haven’t done this before — but this year, we want to give a Christmas gift to complete strangers.

A portrait session — engagement, family, couple, newborn, whatever the winner would like. An hour of shooting time in the Daytona Beach area, and a PASS gallery of hi-res edited digital images available to download. No strings attached.
Orlando Lifestyle Wedding and Portrait PhotographerSo here’s how it works: If you know a couple or a family or an individual who has recently been through or is going through a difficult time, we would love to give them the opportunity to have portraits taken — to celebrate their strength and determination to live and enjoy their lives to the fullest. So between now and December 20th, we’ll be accepting nominations via email (at laurayangphotography@gmail.com). Send us a short email letting us know why these people would benefit from a portrait session, and on Saturday, December 21, we’ll choose the winner. The winner will be notified over the weekend, and we’ll schedule the portrait session during January or February.

We can’t wait to gift someone with a portrait session this Christmas, so spread the news among your friends and family — and send us your nominations!

I would love to have a portrait of my large family. My oldest son will be home from Texas so all my children will be together for Christmas. My Mom is 89 years old. She’s been ill and I fear this could be our last Christmas together. What a gift it would be
