This past Saturday, on a warm and sunny evening, we watched Karen and Troy share their first dance as husband and wife under the eaves of the barn at Millenium Stables, and it felt as if our photography career has come full circle. Almost exactly three years earlier, Karen’s daughter Brittany got married on an even warmer, sunnier spring day — and that was the very first wedding Danny and I photographed together.

A lot changed between when we photographed Brittany and Brandon’s beach wedding and Karen and Troy’s rustic barn wedding, but two things haven’t: I still think they’re some of the kindest people I’ve known, and they had a huge impact on my life as a part of my stable/horse family. And I still think intimate, handcrafted, friends-and-family hosted weddings are my very favorites. There’s nothing happier than a relaxed celebration, surrounded by family and friends who contributed to making the day absolutely wonderful.
