It almost felt like we had come full circle. Three years ago, when Danny and I shot our very first wedding together, it was Karen’s daughter Brittany who was the bride. Then, earlier this month, we got to photograph Karen’s wedding, too. To say it was special wouldn’t be doing it quite justice.
You see, for about ten years, Karen has been the manager at Millenium Stables, where I kept Bravissima. She took incredibly good care of my little mare, especially during those grueling last nine months when Bravissima was so ill. So she’s had a very special place in my heart for a long time. And Troy, well I got to know him out at the stable years ago, too — and so did Karen — and I quickly realized he was one of the kindest people I’d met in a long time. Needless to say, I think that makes Karen and Troy a great match.
Their wedding day was just like the two of them: Relaxed, fun, filled with their family and friends, and yes, cowboy boots and all the horses. Because they got married out at Millenium Stables, with the pastures of grazing horses for a backdrop. It couldn’t have been better.
My one regret from their wedding: I didn’t get to sample the pig!
Before the ceremony, Troy led his family and friends in something beautiful: A balloon release for his late father. As the ceremony got underway, things were already pretty chill. Some of the wedding party had even gotten a jump start on the cocktail hour. Karen and Troy got married under the barn’s rafters — the very place where they had gotten to know each other.A bridal party decked out in cowboy boots and denim is definitely the way to keep everyone comfortable and stylish for a barn wedding! We couldn’t have had a more beautiful evening for Karen and Troy’s portraits as the sun sank behind the pasture.I love this. And Karen’s hairstyle! Karen, you looked fabulous! The special dances are always some of the best parts of a wedding — whether the bride and groom, bride and her father, and groom and his mother are laughing or crying or just glowing with the excitement of the day. It’s always beautiful.
Karen and Troy, we were so thrilled to be a part of your wedding day, and we wish you both the very happiest marriage!
