It’s always a bit awe-inspiring to watch a family grow. That’s especially true when that family belongs to one of your childhood friends. Seeing the way children inherit bits and pieces of their parents’ personalities, the way their features are a patchwork of the two families’, and how they become individuals all their own is such an incredible journey. Whenever there’s a new baby added to the mix, it gets even more fun.
Last month, little Ethan arrived to two excited parents and two enthusiastic big sisters. He couldn’t be more welcome, or more wanted, or more loved.
I love these next three pictures so very much. When Ethan began crying, the girls sang lullabies to him so earnestly, and so confidently. They could make their little brother feel better. They knew they could.
And this pretty much sums up everyday life in a house full of kids! Photographing a family inside their home is just wonderful. There’s no fuss, no worrying about making sure things move quickly, no need to agonize over outfits or props. It’s just a glimpse into what life is like inside the family’s home. And when Ethan needed to take a break from photos to eat, I got to check in with the girls.Baby toes are my favorite.
Welcome to the world, Ethan James!
