I've
always been
storyteller.

But I never set out to be a photographer. I was (and still am!) going to be a writer. And then as I worked toward that writing goal, someone put a camera in my hand and asked me to try telling stories with something besides words. So with an English nerd's love for character and tone, a romantic's love for poignant beauty, and a realist's love for imperfection, I dove in.

I've
always been a
story-teller.

That was back in 2010.

Since that time, photography has changed much of my life. It's brought me some of my dearest friends. It's reshaped the way my husband Danny and I view serving others. It has even literally taken me around the world. One thing that hasn't changed: my soul-stirring desire to tell stories that feel so real you're sure you knew them before you heard them. Or saw them. It's my privilege to tell those stories for my clients, and for the generations of their families still to come.

Winter Park Family Portraits in the Garden

Thursday, April 20th, 2017

Way back in April 2012, I met Claire and Bill in the springtime, for their engagement session. If you want a serious blast-from-the-past moment, you can check it out on my old archived blog, here. But, fast forward five springtimes later, and I was shooting another portrait session with them — and this time, also with their little man who was about to celebrate turning one whole year old.

You guys. We had so much fun. There were so many baby smirks, and so much wobbly trying-to-walk, and as a former bald baby myself, I’m kind of partial to kiddos who rock barely-there hair.  That light though…Florida was showing off just a little bit that evening, and it couldn’t have been more beautiful!
This next one was when he was clearly thinking, “Mom, Dad, you’re posing all wrong! Let me show you how it’s done.”
Really, this kid had all the facial expressions and comedic timing of a standup veteran!
And he also knew how to ham it up for the perfect family portrait.
I can’t say enough good things about this family! Except — let’s not wait five years until we do it again, okay?!
