I've
always been
storyteller.

But I never set out to be a photographer. I was (and still am!) going to be a writer. And then as I worked toward that writing goal, someone put a camera in my hand and asked me to try telling stories with something besides words. So with an English nerd's love for character and tone, a romantic's love for poignant beauty, and a realist's love for imperfection, I dove in.

I've
always been a
story-teller.

That was back in 2010.

Since that time, photography has changed much of my life. It's brought me some of my dearest friends. It's reshaped the way my husband Danny and I view serving others. It has even literally taken me around the world. One thing that hasn't changed: my soul-stirring desire to tell stories that feel so real you're sure you knew them before you heard them. Or saw them. It's my privilege to tell those stories for my clients, and for the generations of their families still to come.

Ponce Inlet Family Vacation Photography

Friday, July 28th, 2017

They came from the desert, so they wanted to capture some family portraits that looked a whole lot of different from their everyday scenery. Instead of red rocks and cacti and canyons, they wanted rocky beaches and lush foliage and lapping waves. We got in some of everything they wanted, and then some, thanks to a magical sunset the likes of which they said they only see about once a year out in the dryness of the desert!

We also got in: a ton of laughter, some family inside jokes that I got to become a part of, and self-defense lessons thanks to determined swarms of gnats.

It couldn’t have been better!
Watching out of town families explore the unique ecosystem and terrain of Ponce Inlet during photo shoots = some of my favorites.
After a quick outfit change, it was down to the beach….
These four were seasoned pros. You would never know they were being attacked by man-eating gnats as we wandered around the dunes!
Oh yes! This is that magical sunset I was talking about! The sky and sand and sea all melted into the yummiest apricot jam, and it was the perfect backdrop to wrap up the evening!
When the parents went in for a smooch, sis decided to plant one on her little brother’s nose, too.
This next picture was when I asked the two of them to think of their funniest memory of each other…and she started giggling…and he said, “You’re thinking of the time I slipped and fell on the banana peel, aren’t you?”
As we headed off the beach, the sky waved its neon farewell.I had such a fantastic time with this family! Sweet kiddos and fun parents make portrait sessions a breeze. A beautiful evening doesn’t hurt, either.

And I hope these four will enjoy these memories of their trip to the coast!
