Their day dawned dark and drizzly, and by the time we were headed to Sunset Harbor for the ceremony, the sky was delivering on its threat of rain. But Kelly calmly declared that she didn’t care. She couldn’t control the rain, she said, so she refused to worry about it, because no matter what the sky hurled her way, by the time the evening arrived, she and Jeff were going to be married and everything would be wonderful. Rain or no rain.
Thankfully, the rain cleared up just when we needed it to for their ceremony and portraits — but Kelly was right. This was a wedding day that simply couldn’t have been spoiled.Kelly — who is a nurse, not a graphic designer — created her entire beautiful stationery suite! In colors that were a nod to the University of Florida, where Kelly finished up her doctorate this year.It was a toss-up for the title of “most excited” because Kelly’s little sister was absolutely elated that the wedding day had arrived!Kelly knew her bridesmaids had great taste, so she set them loose to choose their own mix-and-match navy dresses, and the result was just perfect.Stunning just barely begins to describe how Kelly looked that afternoon. As Kelly prepped, Jeff got ready nearby.Once everyone was polished up for the wedding day, Jeff came in for the first look. It took Kelly a moment to compose herself and get a hold of her emotions, but by the time she slipped up behind him, she was all smiles! But there was another big reveal to come: While Jeff watched from the next room, Kelly mom led her father in to see his baby girl, transformed into a bride. It is always once of the best parts of the wedding day. With the rain at least temporarily cleared out, we headed down to the dock for some formal portraits before the ceremony! The nautical decor was almost entirely DIYed by Kelly — and it looked fabulous! The ceremony was simply and beautiful, and I am absolutely in love with these black and whites.Once they were officially husband and wife, Kelly and Jeff paused to hug their parents and bridal party, then without further ado they headed up the street to a nearby park for their bride and groom portraits. The soft overcast light couldn’t have been more romantic and dreamy for them!Love these two portraits!Jeff had to keep up — Kelly was ready to get back to their reception! The ballroom inside Sunset Harbor glowed bright white, with plenty of nautical touches, once again handcrafted by Kelly.I loved the beautiful wedding cake from The Pastry Studio, as always, but it was the groom’s cake — a surprise for Jeff, months in the making — that stole the show. But I have to admit, it’s a little hard for this die-hard Yankee fan to showcase it here. For Kelly and Jeff, it was extra special, and was yet another link to their Red Sox connection, which Jeff’s dad joked about during his speech. Kelly and Jeff first met when they were out with friends at a sports bar, watching the Red Sox, Jeff’s hometown team, in the 2004 World Series . . . which the Red Sox won. They reconnected and became a couple in 2007 . . . just as the Red Sox won the World Series again. Big things seem to happen for the Red Sox when these two get together, so once they set their wedding date for November 2, 2013, mere days after the World Series was slated to be played, Major League Baseball might as well have called off the entire season, because the Red Sox were fated to once again win it all. Just after the grand entrance and speeches, one of the Sunset Harbor staffers alerted us that something pretty incredible was going on outside: An amazing double rainbow was splitting through the bright pink sunset sky. So naturally we whisked Kelly and Jeff out to a nearby balcony. We were only able to capture one rainbow due to our angle — but I’m not complaining! It isn’t every wedding that you get to shoot a rainbow!Back inside, it was time to get the party underway. This was a group that most certainly knew how to have a good time!
We grabbed a quick shot with the newlyweds — and with a pair of yearlyweds, Kristy and Nick, whose wedding we photographed in April 2012, and who first introduced us to Kelly and Jeff. The night ended as every great party does: With guests who weren’t ready to go home, and a couple whose celebration had just begun.See more of Kelly and Jeff’s wedding in their slideshow:
Kelly and Jeff, we were so honored and so thrilled to be there for your wedding day, and we couldn’t be happier for the two of you as you begin your marriage! We can’t wait to see what the future brings you.

Thanks so much for the kind words. Both your cakes were gorgeous and fit perfectly with the decor Kelly so carefully orchestrated! It was a truly wonderful celebration and we’re thrilled for Kelly and Jeff.

What a beautiful couple and a lovely wedding & reception. Everything was cohesive in design, carrying through the Preppy yet Chic feel Kelly desired.
