I've
always been
storyteller.

But I never set out to be a photographer. I was (and still am!) going to be a writer. And then as I worked toward that writing goal, someone put a camera in my hand and asked me to try telling stories with something besides words. So with an English nerd's love for character and tone, a romantic's love for poignant beauty, and a realist's love for imperfection, I dove in.

I've
always been a
story-teller.

That was back in 2010.

Since that time, photography has changed much of my life. It's brought me some of my dearest friends. It's reshaped the way my husband Danny and I view serving others. It has even literally taken me around the world. One thing that hasn't changed: my soul-stirring desire to tell stories that feel so real you're sure you knew them before you heard them. Or saw them. It's my privilege to tell those stories for my clients, and for the generations of their families still to come.

Trick-Or-Treatless + a Couple Portrait Preview | Ormond Beach Photography

Monday, October 31st, 2011

This year, as millions of young children and not-so-young children and not-children-at-all don costumes and run door to door, I’ve become that house. That’s right, I’m sitting here typing in the dark, hoping no one will notice the glow of my computer screen seeping past my curtains. My porch light is out; I have no candy (except some Hershey’s bars I discovered in the back of the pantry, stamped: Exp 02/10/08).

It wasn’t intentional, I promise! All along, I’d meant to buy candy — but I put it off and put it off, and stayed busy working today until the little Green Lanterns and Rapunzels were already skipping along the street. Somehow, I will make it up to them next year. Maybe it will be something that involves turning my front stoop into a haunted hideout. Maybe it will just involve making sure I already have candy in my pantry that isn’t past date.

But, to convince you I’m not a complete Halloween Scrooge (and to mix some holiday metaphors), I’ve got another kind of treat: A new preview. Finally! Here’s one of Ally + Matt, and Sadie + Booger, and I’ll give you one guess which pair are the dogs. The rest of their sweet fall photo shoot will be up later this week!
