I've
always been
storyteller.

But I never set out to be a photographer. I was (and still am!) going to be a writer. And then as I worked toward that writing goal, someone put a camera in my hand and asked me to try telling stories with something besides words. So with an English nerd's love for character and tone, a romantic's love for poignant beauty, and a realist's love for imperfection, I dove in.

I've
always been a
story-teller.

That was back in 2010.

Since that time, photography has changed much of my life. It's brought me some of my dearest friends. It's reshaped the way my husband Danny and I view serving others. It has even literally taken me around the world. One thing that hasn't changed: my soul-stirring desire to tell stories that feel so real you're sure you knew them before you heard them. Or saw them. It's my privilege to tell those stories for my clients, and for the generations of their families still to come.

A Vintage Double Date Preview | St. Augustine Photography

Monday, December 5th, 2011

Who better for a double date inspiration photo shoot than two couples who are longtime friends? And where better for a vintage photo shoot than Downtown St. Augustine? As yesterday afternoon proved, the answers are clearly “No one” and “Nowhere.” Our Vintage Double Date styled shoot was a photographer’s dream! At least it was mine — I’ve quite literally been dreaming about it for months. It came true so beautifully. With poodles. But you’ll have to wait a bit longer for that part of the story. . . .

I’d like to just make a quick shout-out — thank you to Emily Macri of White Blossom Weddings and Events for finding our lovely venue, the Old City House Inn on Cordova St., and staging the scene; Celeste Barney and Kristi Tavolacci for working some pure magic in the hair and makeup department; and of course, to our wonderful models, Julie and Andy and Carrie Anne and Zach! You all gave Danny and me a fun afternoon and evening to remember. And Julie, I want your hairdo, and Carrie Anne, I’d be happy to take that dress off your hands.

First, a peek at the sweet tablescape Emily created in the courtyard at the Old City House — where Emily worked as the innkeeper while she was in college. Her setup was simple, chic, cozy and quaint. Or, in just one word, “perfect.”
Second, Julie and Andy looking cute as can be on old St. George St. Yes, St. George St. has a section that is not overrun with tourist shops. Just south of Palm Row, it made the perfect backdrop for a shot I’d had in mind for some time.
And last but not least, Carrie Anne and Zach, one block over on Cordova. This picture truly takes me back in time. I want to ooh and ah over them.
Thanks again to each and every one of you. I’m having a blast going through yesterday’s pictures, and I can’t wait to get the full blog post up for everyone to enjoy!
