I've
always been
storyteller.

But I never set out to be a photographer. I was (and still am!) going to be a writer. And then as I worked toward that writing goal, someone put a camera in my hand and asked me to try telling stories with something besides words. So with an English nerd's love for character and tone, a romantic's love for poignant beauty, and a realist's love for imperfection, I dove in.

I've
always been a
story-teller.

That was back in 2010.

Since that time, photography has changed much of my life. It's brought me some of my dearest friends. It's reshaped the way my husband Danny and I view serving others. It has even literally taken me around the world. One thing that hasn't changed: my soul-stirring desire to tell stories that feel so real you're sure you knew them before you heard them. Or saw them. It's my privilege to tell those stories for my clients, and for the generations of their families still to come.

It’s kind of becoming a recurring theme that I’ll blog a bunch of sessions . . . and then the blog will fall silent for weeks or even months at a time. A few years ago, daily blog posts were at the heart of my photography business. Now — things have changed! As our adoption process […]

Each spring for the past six years, Danny and I have headed up to the Connect Marriage Retreat at WinShape Retreat in northwest Georgia. While there, we usually end up shooting some portraits for another couple or two. This year was no different . . . except that this year, Danny and I didn’t shoot […]

They’d gotten married in the late spring, but they hadn’t gotten wedding portraits — and so, a few months later, they wanted to dress up again and get those pictures as their marriage was still just beginning. I couldn’t have been happier to oblige! It was hot, and it was buggy, but these two made […]

Earlier this week, we shelved the holiday busyness for a day and spent an afternoon in St. Augustine with friends. It was a positively chilly day by Florida standards, but beautiful by any! St. Augustine is my old stomping grounds, since I graduated from Flagler College, but there are always bits and pieces of Old Town that are still […]

Last year we did an absolutely magical portrait session swap with our friends Eileen and Phillip when we were at CONNECT, and this year we had to do it again — although we did not miss out on dinner this time around! Since we weren’t planning a full photo shoot this year, we just grabbed our cameras as […]

We met Jennie and Chris at CONNECT this year, and since they were one of the few couples there who weren’t photographers (gasp!), we wanted to make sure they went home with some portraits of themselves. Before the beautiful al fresco dinner on Wednesday night, we squeezed in a quick mini session with them on […]
