I've
always been
storyteller.

But I never set out to be a photographer. I was (and still am!) going to be a writer. And then as I worked toward that writing goal, someone put a camera in my hand and asked me to try telling stories with something besides words. So with an English nerd's love for character and tone, a romantic's love for poignant beauty, and a realist's love for imperfection, I dove in.

I've
always been a
story-teller.

That was back in 2010.

Since that time, photography has changed much of my life. It's brought me some of my dearest friends. It's reshaped the way my husband Danny and I view serving others. It has even literally taken me around the world. One thing that hasn't changed: my soul-stirring desire to tell stories that feel so real you're sure you knew them before you heard them. Or saw them. It's my privilege to tell those stories for my clients, and for the generations of their families still to come.

Danyelle + Kevin – Central Florida Engagement Portraits | Daytona Beach Wedding Photographer

Tuesday, February 12th, 2013

They said it might not be easy for him. Kevin is a soldier — but it’s having his picture taken that makes him uneasy. Or so I had heard. Because Kevin seemed just fine with Danyelle by his side at their engagement session.

But maybe that was why: Danyelle was by his side. They got married this past Saturday, a day that was simply overflowing with the joy that comes from a well-rooted love. She’s never going to leave his side again. I think she seems more than happy with that arrangement.Danyelle simply had to have some pictures with her man in his fatigues, and she was absolutely giddy to see him in his dress blues on their wedding day. Really, she was giddy to see him any way she could: Although their families had been friends for years and they had spent their whole childhood just a few doors away from each other, for all but two weeks of their courtship, Kevin has been in Hawaii, while Danyelle was here in Florida. Their excitement to finally be together forever was absolutely infectious!I love seeing how distinctly different couples hug. Laugh. Hold hands.Another quick change, and we were off to Ponce Inlet — where, for our third Ponce Inlet engagement session in a row, the storm clouds parted and treated us to a gorgeous sunset and twilight.

Also — serious favorite alert!
As I said, we had a beautiful evening! As the fireworks faded from the sky, the inlet waters deepened to a rich turquoise. Danyelle couldn’t stop laughing from her sheer happiness. I would have loved to have stretched that moment out for the rest of the night.
If you want to see even more of this incredibly sweet couple, check out their slideshow!

Danyelle and Kevin — you were such a blast to work with, and we were so happy to get to start getting to know you through your engagement and wedding day. And we are honestly really sad you’re going to be living half a world away in Hawaii! But hey, you might just find yourself with some visitors who would just love to photograph you again on another beach in the middle of the Pacific. . . .
