I've
always been
storyteller.

But I never set out to be a photographer. I was (and still am!) going to be a writer. And then as I worked toward that writing goal, someone put a camera in my hand and asked me to try telling stories with something besides words. So with an English nerd's love for character and tone, a romantic's love for poignant beauty, and a realist's love for imperfection, I dove in.

I've
always been a
story-teller.

That was back in 2010.

Since that time, photography has changed much of my life. It's brought me some of my dearest friends. It's reshaped the way my husband Danny and I view serving others. It has even literally taken me around the world. One thing that hasn't changed: my soul-stirring desire to tell stories that feel so real you're sure you knew them before you heard them. Or saw them. It's my privilege to tell those stories for my clients, and for the generations of their families still to come.

Greetings From Sunny Southern California!

Tuesday, February 26th, 2013

It’s not that it wasn’t sunny in Florida — but hey, guys, guess what?! It’s sunny here in California, too! We’ve been having a blast these past few days, and yesterday our United classes started bright and early. We’ve got a full schedule for today and tomorrow, including participating in a bunch of shoots — as photographers for most of them, and as models for one. (Eep!) We’ll have a ton of pictures to share soon, but in the meantime, here’s a little peek into the sights we’ve enjoying here on the left coast! Our first view of the Pacific, in North Manhattan Beach, did not disappoint! We headed up to Griffith Observatory to look down on all of Los Angeles (and take the obligatory photo in front of the Hollywood sign). No, we did not buy anything. We did, however, nearly get run over by the stroller Kelsey Grammer was pushing. Our drive up the Pacific Coast Highway, through Malibu, a town called Ormond Beach (really!), and into Santa Barbara, was just amazing. Our bike ride along the coast in Santa Barbara was even more incredible. This, people, is paradise. We want to come here as often as possible. Really.

So there you have it! There’s a lot more to come. In the meantime, we’re soaking in the atmosphere, the beautiful sights, the comfort of the resort, and all the knowledge we’re learning and the friendships we’re making. Florida, we’ll see you in a few more days!
