Do you ever stop to calculate all the blessings that fill up your life? I mean really list them, out loud, or tick them off on your fingers.
Here, I’ll help you get started in case you haven’t. I’ve written down a few for all of us.
- I’m blessed with healthy food to nourish my body and make my taste buds dance.
- I’m blessed to live in a time when we all have more money at our disposal than all but the richest of kings had in centuries past.
- I’m blessed to have more freedom and more rights than people enjoyed in almost every other civilization and era.
- I’m blessed with a beautiful world I can enjoy, free of charge, each day.
I took these photos the other evening, when I looked out my window and realized the tail end of the day was simply too beautiful to stay inside. A storm rode on the horizon, but the sunlight refused to let go. It was a wonderful analogy for life.
There are so many things like that in our lives — in all our lives. I know some of us have more burdens to bear than others, and I know some of those burdens feel impossibly heavy. But we’re all incredibly blessed, too.
Soak in your blessings. Revel in them. Recount them to yourself so you never forget.
