I've
always been
storyteller.

But I never set out to be a photographer. I was (and still am!) going to be a writer. And then as I worked toward that writing goal, someone put a camera in my hand and asked me to try telling stories with something besides words. So with an English nerd's love for character and tone, a romantic's love for poignant beauty, and a realist's love for imperfection, I dove in.

I've
always been a
story-teller.

That was back in 2010.

Since that time, photography has changed much of my life. It's brought me some of my dearest friends. It's reshaped the way my husband Danny and I view serving others. It has even literally taken me around the world. One thing that hasn't changed: my soul-stirring desire to tell stories that feel so real you're sure you knew them before you heard them. Or saw them. It's my privilege to tell those stories for my clients, and for the generations of their families still to come.

On a Strong Foundation

Tuesday, June 4th, 2013

Lately, I’ve been thinking a lot about how much we have liked all our couples. We think they’ve been great to work with, but even more, they’re great people. We definitely don’t take this for granted, and we feel incredibly blessed to consider our couples our friends.

But this week, something else occurred to me. Not only have we loved all our couples, but we’ve loved their parents, too. It shouldn’t come as a surprise though — wonderful adults were usually raised by wonderful parents. This is something else we don’t take for granted, and it’s yet another blessing in our business. It’s also an exhortation in a way. Someday far, far away, we want to have raised wonderful children. We want them to marry incredible partners. And we want the people they marry, and their families, to benefit from our children’s upbringing. And maybe even their photographers, too.

So here’s another shout-out to our couples, and also one to our couples’ parents. Thank you for raising such amazing sons and daughters. Thank you for letting us step into your families on such an important day in your lives. Thank you for building a strong foundation for your children’s marriages and for their children’s families.~ Laura
