I've
always been
storyteller.

But I never set out to be a photographer. I was (and still am!) going to be a writer. And then as I worked toward that writing goal, someone put a camera in my hand and asked me to try telling stories with something besides words. So with an English nerd's love for character and tone, a romantic's love for poignant beauty, and a realist's love for imperfection, I dove in.

I've
always been a
story-teller.

That was back in 2010.

Since that time, photography has changed much of my life. It's brought me some of my dearest friends. It's reshaped the way my husband Danny and I view serving others. It has even literally taken me around the world. One thing that hasn't changed: my soul-stirring desire to tell stories that feel so real you're sure you knew them before you heard them. Or saw them. It's my privilege to tell those stories for my clients, and for the generations of their families still to come.

After A Week Away….

Monday, August 12th, 2013

What a wonderful week and a half. What a wonderful, busy week and a half.

It went something like this: Drive all day to Virginia with Amanda / Julie arrives / Pick Rob up from Dulles / Chipotle! / Walk the Manassas battlefield / Drive to Rockville for delicious Ethiopian food with Julie’s college friends / Hang out at Starbucks / Spend the morning at The National Gallery of Art / Lunch at the cafe in the Sculpture Garden / Spend the afternoon at the National Museum of American History with Amanda’s brother / Meet Danny’s sister for dinner at Kramerbooks & Afterwords Cafe / Play Dutch Blitz / Visit Luray Caverns / Drive along Skyline Drive through the Blue Ridge Mountains and hike the White Oak Canyon trail past a waterfall in Shenandoah National Park / Go to my aunt and uncle’s for a cookout / Spend the morning at the National Zoo / Chipotle again! / Visit the National Museum of Natural History / Cook dinner at home / Hike the Billy Goat Trail at Great Falls / Drop Rob off at Dulles / Make dinner at home / Watch special ballet presentation at the National Gallery of Art / Spend the afternoon at the Holocaust Museum / Dinner at Matchbox Chinatown / Back to Kramerbooks for dessert / Midnight run to Walmart for emergency car supplies for Julie and Amanda’s road trip to Massachusetts / See Julie and Amanda off at 4:30 a.m. / Spend the day doing laundry, packing, tidying, and running errands / Dinner at Pho Deluxe with Danny’s grandfather / Back to Pho Deluxe for lunch with Danny’s sister / Stop for froyo / shopping / kabobs for dinner / Playing cards with Christine’s friends all night / Drive all day back to Florida.

Whew.

We didn’t pull out our DSLRs once on this trip. It felt great. We just carried our iPhones and snapped away. Here’s a few straight from Instagram:The afternoon at Manassas was lovely. But dinner later that night was incredible!
Ever since I was a kid, I’ve loved the D.C. metro stations.We did a little hiking . . .And a little museum-ing . . .And a lot of just enjoying our surroundings . . .. . . because they were incredible.
We had such a fun time, but now I’m officially back at work as of today. And ready to start planning the next adventure!
