I've
always been
storyteller.

But I never set out to be a photographer. I was (and still am!) going to be a writer. And then as I worked toward that writing goal, someone put a camera in my hand and asked me to try telling stories with something besides words. So with an English nerd's love for character and tone, a romantic's love for poignant beauty, and a realist's love for imperfection, I dove in.

I've
always been a
story-teller.

That was back in 2010.

Since that time, photography has changed much of my life. It's brought me some of my dearest friends. It's reshaped the way my husband Danny and I view serving others. It has even literally taken me around the world. One thing that hasn't changed: my soul-stirring desire to tell stories that feel so real you're sure you knew them before you heard them. Or saw them. It's my privilege to tell those stories for my clients, and for the generations of their families still to come.

New York, In Black & White

Tuesday, September 17th, 2013

If you follow my Instagram feed, you’ve already seen these. If not, here’s a peek into our New York City explorations last week.

Danny and I spent the two days after Katrina and Chris’s fabulous wedding wandering Manhattan and DUMBO, where we stayed with Danny’s aunt and uncle in their loft in a converted printing warehouse. And we loved it. We loved the hustle and bustle. We loved the history etched in brick and steel juxtaposed against the ever-changing advertisements flashing in Times Square and the ever-changing fashions parading along 5th Avenue (and, during Fashion Week, which was taking place while we were there, even more so in Chelsea). We loved the diversity packed into this pulsing center of modern civilization — and the stories. The stories people in New York have to share would be enough to keep us there, listening, forever.

But we came home, of course. So until next time, we’ll relive New York in black and white.Brooklyn-BridgeManhattan-SkylineWorld-Trade-CenterBrooklyn-Bridge-WalkwayCentral-ParkBethesda-FountainMidtown-ManhattanMidtownTimes-SquareDUMBOFlatiron-Building14th-StThe-High-LineSubwayLady-LibertyAlmondineMemorial-Lights~ Laura
