I've
always been
storyteller.

But I never set out to be a photographer. I was (and still am!) going to be a writer. And then as I worked toward that writing goal, someone put a camera in my hand and asked me to try telling stories with something besides words. So with an English nerd's love for character and tone, a romantic's love for poignant beauty, and a realist's love for imperfection, I dove in.

I've
always been a
story-teller.

That was back in 2010.

Since that time, photography has changed much of my life. It's brought me some of my dearest friends. It's reshaped the way my husband Danny and I view serving others. It has even literally taken me around the world. One thing that hasn't changed: my soul-stirring desire to tell stories that feel so real you're sure you knew them before you heard them. Or saw them. It's my privilege to tell those stories for my clients, and for the generations of their families still to come.

My Favorite Things . . . Right Now: Baking, Home Upgrades, and Doing Life Together

Thursday, November 14th, 2013

It feels like fall! No wait, just kidding; it was nearly 80 degrees yesterday and is supposed to hit the mid 80s again early next week. It’s a gorgeous sunny day with crisp blue skies! No wait, just kidding; now it’s gray and windy and threatening rain. Florida — please, make up your mind. It’s mid November, not May or September, and I’m ready to enjoy some open windows and al fresco dinners on the patio! But in the meantime, I’m contenting myself with seasonally appropriate activities, like burning apple scented candles and baking fresh quick breads at pretty much every chance. I might not be able to keep the windows open, but at least it smells great inside the house anyway!

Speaking of the house, we’re about to make a pretty exciting change to ours. It’s not anything major, and we aren’t doing renovations or anything. But it’s going to be an upgrade to our home, and to our kitchen. After spending last Friday at EPCOT for the Food & Wine Festival to celebrate our anniversary, we were pretty inspired by the greenhouses we saw on the Living With the Land ride. So, naturally, we came home, Danny spent a good bit of Saturday researching, and we’re about to dive into growing produce with hydroponics right on our lanai. We’re kind of excited. (Okay, we’re really excited!) We’ve had plenty of success growing potted herbs, like this oregano that’s gone a bit feral, but we can’t wait to attempt kale, lettuce, spinach, collards, cucumbers, winter squashes, and much more.OreganoOh, and EPCOT and our anniversary — it was a blast. Going to theme parks makes me feel like a kid again. Going anywhere with Danny is a always fun. We frequently joke to one another, as if we’re shocked, “I never get bored of doing life with you!” I love that, no matter whether we’re working or dabbling in unconventional gardening or spending a day just relaxing, we always get to do it together.
