I've
always been
storyteller.

But I never set out to be a photographer. I was (and still am!) going to be a writer. And then as I worked toward that writing goal, someone put a camera in my hand and asked me to try telling stories with something besides words. So with an English nerd's love for character and tone, a romantic's love for poignant beauty, and a realist's love for imperfection, I dove in.

I've
always been a
story-teller.

That was back in 2010.

Since that time, photography has changed much of my life. It's brought me some of my dearest friends. It's reshaped the way my husband Danny and I view serving others. It has even literally taken me around the world. One thing that hasn't changed: my soul-stirring desire to tell stories that feel so real you're sure you knew them before you heard them. Or saw them. It's my privilege to tell those stories for my clients, and for the generations of their families still to come.

Christmas Party 2014: That One Time We Made a Pinterest Photo Booth

Wednesday, December 24th, 2014

So, Pinterest and I have never been BFFs, until recently when I went on a vegan-food-pinning kick. And then when Danny and I decided we wanted to have a photo booth at our Christmas parties! DIY gold metallic backdrop for the win!

It had been a few years since we had hosted a Christmas party, and-oh-my-goodness-why-didn’t-we-do-this-every-December?! We had so much fun hanging out with some of our old friends, some of our new friends, and some of our clients-turned-friends, sharing the holiday sweets everyone brought to share (pies and cupcakes and cookies and cheesecakes!), playing lawn games (complete with lights set up outside so our yard looked like a baseball field ready for a night game), and sitting around the fire pit (borrowed, just like the lawn games, but now we’re pretty sure we need one of our own). Oh, and the photo booth? It was just hanging out in the back room, where all kinds of fun went down.

Scrolling through the pictures on the back of the camera, I just kept laughing. A photo booth is an awesome addition to a party! And if you’ve been following the blog, you might recognize a few faces, even hidden behind the Santa beards and elf hats. Nearly all of our guests have been in front of our camera before! Here are a few of our favorites from the photo booth.
