I've
always been
storyteller.

But I never set out to be a photographer. I was (and still am!) going to be a writer. And then as I worked toward that writing goal, someone put a camera in my hand and asked me to try telling stories with something besides words. So with an English nerd's love for character and tone, a romantic's love for poignant beauty, and a realist's love for imperfection, I dove in.

I've
always been a
story-teller.

That was back in 2010.

Since that time, photography has changed much of my life. It's brought me some of my dearest friends. It's reshaped the way my husband Danny and I view serving others. It has even literally taken me around the world. One thing that hasn't changed: my soul-stirring desire to tell stories that feel so real you're sure you knew them before you heard them. Or saw them. It's my privilege to tell those stories for my clients, and for the generations of their families still to come.

Lifestyle Family Vacation Portraits in New Smyrna Beach

Thursday, May 25th, 2017

For the fourth time in six years, I had the pleasure of getting to see this family play in front of my camera during their New Smyrna Beach vacation. It’s been so much fun, watching these kids grow and change — and keep playing in front of my camera. And this was my favorite of their sessions to date. Why, you may ask? Well, it has something to do with rafting in the ocean. (I think that may become a requirement for my future vacation family portrait sessions on the beach!)

But we started up at the park…
…where there was so much fun to be had before we even hit the beach! Then, a quick outfit change, and it was time to play in the sand… …and in the water. Those rafts I mentioned earlier? They’re the kids’ favorite way to spend an afternoon. And I have to admit, I was a little bit jealous that I couldn’t hop in, too! And when you’re having so much fun in the rafts that the kids refuse to get out — well, you just take a big group shot with the rafts! And then you start winding down after a long afternoon in the sun.
Okay, maybe not so much winding down as just keeping the crazy fun going as the sun sets and the moon rises! A big thanks to you all for having me come join you for such a great afternoon of your vacation yet again! See you same time next year!
