I've
always been
storyteller.

But I never set out to be a photographer. I was (and still am!) going to be a writer. And then as I worked toward that writing goal, someone put a camera in my hand and asked me to try telling stories with something besides words. So with an English nerd's love for character and tone, a romantic's love for poignant beauty, and a realist's love for imperfection, I dove in.

I've
always been a
story-teller.

That was back in 2010.

Since that time, photography has changed much of my life. It's brought me some of my dearest friends. It's reshaped the way my husband Danny and I view serving others. It has even literally taken me around the world. One thing that hasn't changed: my soul-stirring desire to tell stories that feel so real you're sure you knew them before you heard them. Or saw them. It's my privilege to tell those stories for my clients, and for the generations of their families still to come.

What a difference four months can make. The last time I saw Sonnette, she was one week old, sucking on a binky in between two-minute naps, her eyelashes fluttering beneath her dainty headband. This morning, she was a lot more active — lending a hand to turn the pages of a storybook (kind of), even […]

The Little Fella didn’t like the feel of the grass on his bare feet. He didn’t like the powdery sand between his toes. Or the wet sand on his soles. Mom guessed he was teething and had a headache. Twice a year, they leave the hustle and bustle of Atlanta behind and head down to their own slice of paradise in New Smyrna Beach. This visit happened to be the first time when their little fella was old enough to dip his toes into the Atlantic. After playing in the sand and exploring the […]

Weddings and engagements make my heart flutter. Newborns, like precious Sonnette Joy, make my heart absolutely melt. Maybe it’s the perfectly formed little fingers and toes, so delicate and fragile. Or the wispy eyelashes, the downy hair. It could be the way their little bodies feel when you snuggle them: So compact inside skin that’s […]

Everybody knows there’s something about little girls — the sugar and spice and all that sweetness from the nursery rhyme. But do we really believe that little girls are born so perfectly girly? No, not always. It’s up to Mom to pass on the love for all things frilly and feminine. Elizabeth has done it […]

We couldn’t have asked for a better afternoon, or a better family. Plus a tea set. Tulle. Some sidewalk chalk. It really can’t get any better. And the best part is that I’ll get to do it all over again — when baby Sonnette is born in a few weeks, and again every three months, […]
