I've
always been
storyteller.

But I never set out to be a photographer. I was (and still am!) going to be a writer. And then as I worked toward that writing goal, someone put a camera in my hand and asked me to try telling stories with something besides words. So with an English nerd's love for character and tone, a romantic's love for poignant beauty, and a realist's love for imperfection, I dove in.

I've
always been a
story-teller.

That was back in 2010.

Since that time, photography has changed much of my life. It's brought me some of my dearest friends. It's reshaped the way my husband Danny and I view serving others. It has even literally taken me around the world. One thing that hasn't changed: my soul-stirring desire to tell stories that feel so real you're sure you knew them before you heard them. Or saw them. It's my privilege to tell those stories for my clients, and for the generations of their families still to come.

It’s a big responsibility, shooting weddings. Not performing-emergency-surgery-big or save-the-world-from-aliens-big, but it feels pretty darn big. Each couple’s wedding happens only once. There are no do-overs. The couple will never have that day with those whirlwind emotions ever again. And if the DJ accidentally plays a song from the do-not-play list or the flowers weren’t quite a […]

Last night we had the absolute pleasure of being a part of another tasting put on by the wonderful Dubsdread team, this time back at the beautiful Highland Manor. We love it any time we get to work with the people at Dubsdread, because they take such good care of their couples — and the other […]

Technically, the first half of the year ended in June. But in June, it still feels like things are just getting started, what with summer beginning and the school year ending (even though neither Danny nor I have been involved in any kind of school for the past five years. . . .). So we’ll […]

Today, one of our best friends is moving out of state. It’s awful. Over the years, so many of the people I care for most have moved, all around the country and sometimes overseas. And all the while, trips and vacations aside, I’ve stayed in the very same place. Geographically speaking, of course.I guess none […]

When Danny and I were planning our wedding, we were terribly excited about that specific day — Saturday, November 7th. It was the day I would put on a beautiful gown and we would slip gold bands on each other’s fingers and dance with our friends as we celebrated at the reception. But that wasn’t […]
