I've
always been
storyteller.

But I never set out to be a photographer. I was (and still am!) going to be a writer. And then as I worked toward that writing goal, someone put a camera in my hand and asked me to try telling stories with something besides words. So with an English nerd's love for character and tone, a romantic's love for poignant beauty, and a realist's love for imperfection, I dove in.

I've
always been a
story-teller.

That was back in 2010.

Since that time, photography has changed much of my life. It's brought me some of my dearest friends. It's reshaped the way my husband Danny and I view serving others. It has even literally taken me around the world. One thing that hasn't changed: my soul-stirring desire to tell stories that feel so real you're sure you knew them before you heard them. Or saw them. It's my privilege to tell those stories for my clients, and for the generations of their families still to come.

And with a simple gesture, Stephen summarized that commitment when he reached up to brush one of Jessica’s tears off her smile-sore cheek. They’ve each found someone to wipe their tears away for the rest of their lives. […]

The morning of their wedding in Katrina’s native New York City couldn’t have been any more beautiful, or any more promising as a metaphor for a strong marriage: There were a few clouds here and there, but in the vast backdrop of rich, almost-autumnal-blueness, those clouds were far from the defining trait in the sky. As she sat in front of the mirror that morning, her hair twisted into curlers, Jessica murmured, “I hope I don’t cry.” “You will,” her ten bridesmaids unanimously assured her. She said she couldn’t wait to be called Mrs. Staley. On their wedding day, Denie had to wait for a bit longer though, because a storm blew in at the exact time they were supposed to exchange their vows in front of The Casements, the place where she had always dreamed of getting married. But, […]

It had been over a year since they started planning their life together. It began, officially, yesterday afternoon. And they couldn’t start it without plenty of tears, plenty of laughter, plenty of silliness and a whole lot of gorgeousness. We capped the night off with a set of stunning rooftop shots overlooking the Williamsburg Bridge. […]
