LAURA YANG

I've
always been
storyteller.

But I never set out to be a photographer. I was (and still am!) going to be a writer. And then as I worked toward that writing goal, someone put a camera in my hand and asked me to try telling stories with something besides words. So with an English nerd's love for character and tone, a romantic's love for poignant beauty, and a realist's love for imperfection, I dove in.

I've
always been a
story-teller.

That was back in 2010.

Since that time, photography has changed much of my life. It's brought me some of my dearest friends. It's reshaped the way my husband Danny and I view serving others. It has even literally taken me around the world. One thing that hasn't changed: my soul-stirring desire to tell stories that feel so real you're sure you knew them before you heard them. Or saw them. It's my privilege to tell those stories for my clients, and for the generations of their families still to come.

Oh, and cheese. Lots and lots of cheese. I forgot to add cheese into the title of this blog post. I’m enjoying life a lot right now — the simple things, like kicking back with a Vanilla Coke and watching Netflix during a work-free (ish) weekend and planning tonight’s dinner with my parents, and Danny’s […]

Like many a happy couple, Sharon + Harrison couldn’t actually envision the other as their one and only when they first met at work. Sharon thought Harrison was too shy to be much fun. Harrison thought Sharon was on a mission to drive him crazy. But he still invited her to a party last summer […]

If I had to sum up Jennifer and Cheddy’s wedding in one word, it would be “happy.” Their wedding was happy. But if I could add just one other word to the mix, I would also call it “relaxed.” Truthfully, I have never seen such a relaxed wedding — such an un-nervous bride nibbling on […]

Ever have those days where you just feel off your game? Like it’s a struggle to focus on even simple tasks? As if nothing you’re working on at the moment is really important in the grand scheme of things? I’ve knocked out the “musts” for my Monday, with all our current photography projects well under […]

When Jerry proposed to Taylor on Christmas morning of 2010, Taylor didn’t quite see it the first time around — she and Jerry drove right by the sign his family had set up for him in the front yard, surrounded by Christmas lights, and spelling out his question: “Taylor, will you marry me?” But as […]
