LAURA YANG

I've
always been
storyteller.

But I never set out to be a photographer. I was (and still am!) going to be a writer. And then as I worked toward that writing goal, someone put a camera in my hand and asked me to try telling stories with something besides words. So with an English nerd's love for character and tone, a romantic's love for poignant beauty, and a realist's love for imperfection, I dove in.

I've
always been a
story-teller.

That was back in 2010.

Since that time, photography has changed much of my life. It's brought me some of my dearest friends. It's reshaped the way my husband Danny and I view serving others. It has even literally taken me around the world. One thing that hasn't changed: my soul-stirring desire to tell stories that feel so real you're sure you knew them before you heard them. Or saw them. It's my privilege to tell those stories for my clients, and for the generations of their families still to come.

At every turn, Honey Lake Plantation Resort & Spa took my breath away. Sprawling oaks, wild pine barrens, a glistening lake, knobby cypress, sun-dappled fence-lined roads — there wasn’t a thing to dislike about the place. Danny and I felt the same way about the wonderful couple. Amber and Daniel are getting married at Honey […]

Now that the holiday season is in full swing — and Melanie has shipped off her Christmas cards to her friends and family — I’m finally sharing the Nordstroms’ full family photo session from last month. I’d kept it under wraps so Melanie and Erik could debut the pictures from their fun family shoot on […]

Being around horses several days a week, it’s easy to forget that they’re a pretty rare and exciting commodity in suburban America. We were reminded — loudly, and for several miles — on Saturday night when Millenium Stables took six horses to the Ormond Beach Christmas parade. I went to help with the horses . […]

We send flowers to celebrate milestones, and to mark sorrow. We send cards for the same reasons. We wish people well, and tell them that we’re praying for them, when they get engaged, married, welcome a baby, graduate from school, buy a new house, and when they are sick, disheartened, or have lost a loved […]

They piled out of their cars and shuffled into Ames Park — the youngest boy kicking a soccer ball, the older sons’ hands stuffed in their pockets, slightly sheepish grins on everyone’s faces. Showing up somewhere to pose for a camera can bring out the shyness in even the most outgoing kids, especially when they […]

As a kid, “White Christmas” was one of my favorite movies. How favorite? I would watch it in May, again in September, and you’d better believe I watched in at least one more time when the Christmas season was in full swing. It was that kind of favorite. I could sing and dance all the musical […]
