I've
always been
storyteller.

But I never set out to be a photographer. I was (and still am!) going to be a writer. And then as I worked toward that writing goal, someone put a camera in my hand and asked me to try telling stories with something besides words. So with an English nerd's love for character and tone, a romantic's love for poignant beauty, and a realist's love for imperfection, I dove in.

I've
always been a
story-teller.

That was back in 2010.

Since that time, photography has changed much of my life. It's brought me some of my dearest friends. It's reshaped the way my husband Danny and I view serving others. It has even literally taken me around the world. One thing that hasn't changed: my soul-stirring desire to tell stories that feel so real you're sure you knew them before you heard them. Or saw them. It's my privilege to tell those stories for my clients, and for the generations of their families still to come.

TOP 10 DAYTONA BEACH WEDDING VENUES: Our Favorite Wedding Venues in the Daytona Area

Monday, March 17th, 2014

Danny and I live just outside of Daytona Beach and we had our own wedding here, so when it comes to Daytona Beach wedding venues, we’ve pretty much been to all of them — whether we’ve been there to shoot, to attend a wedding, or to scout out the venue for a wedding of our own. And let me tell you, there are plenty of gorgeous wedding venues in Daytona Beach. But when it comes to choosing the perfect place, whether you want a laid-back beach ceremony or a classic country club celebration, there’s more that goes into choosing the perfect venue than just deciding on a location and a price. And we’re here to help by showing off the Daytona wedding venues that we think provide the best combination of scenery, ambiance, service, and location. These are some of the Daytona venues where we’ve loved shooting weddings — and some of the amazing venues where we would love to shoot in the future.

(And if you’re also looking for a photographer to capture your wedding day, we would be honored if you would check out our website and shoot us some information about yourself and your wedding plans so we can find out more about how we can help you!)Best Daytona Beach Wedding Venues

  • The Casements
I grew up driving by The Casements in Ormond Beach every week, loving the grand old house built by John D. Rockefeller and the beautiful garden overlooking the Halifax River, and now I believe it’s one of the prettiest settings for weddings in the Daytona Beach area. The bride and groom can get ready with their attendants inside the (oh-so-photogenic!) grand house, while the garden lawn provides a wonderful backdrop for the ceremony and reception; smaller receptions can be held indoors as well. To see Denie + Tyler’s vintage-inspired Casements wedding, click here.
  • Hammock Beach Resort
With a variety of backdrops for both ceremony and reception, ranging from the sweeping private beaches and manicured lawns to the seaside Sperry tent, elegant ballrooms, the breathtaking Conservatory, and the fabulous Sundancer yacht, Hammock Beach Resort in Palm Coast offers brides and grooms lots of options, and top-notch service, as well as an all-in-one vacation for wedding guests, who can spend their downtime enjoying the resort’s water park, spa, or a round of golf.
  • The Hilton Daytona Beach Oceanwalk
Attached to the bustling Oceanwalk complex, The Hilton is the perfect spot for a destination wedding in Daytona Beach, or for a local wedding with an elegant setting. With beach access just outside the door and ballrooms for almost any size wedding from intimate to grand, including the largest ballroom in Daytona Beach (capacity: 2,000!), the Hilton offers an inviting atmosphere and thoughtful staff. To see Jes + Travis’s intimate destination wedding at The Hilton, click here.
  • The Villa Bed & Breakfast
This is one of the local venues that’s on my wish list — we would love to shoot here after attending a party at this gorgeous spot! The beautiful Spanish style mansion was built in Daytona Beach in the late 1920s and has a chic South Beach vibe. The bed and breakfast has four rooms available to overnight guests, but can host up to 100 wedding guests.
  • LPGA International
Danny and I have yet to shoot a wedding at LPGA . . . but we love it so much we had our own reception here! The clubhouse with its wraparound veranda and floor-to-ceiling windows that offer a stunning view of sunsets over the lake, the fantastic golf courses where the groomsmen played a round the day before the wedding, the delicious food — we enjoyed everything about our own wedding experience at LPGA.
  • The Estate on the Halifax – Tavern & Chapel In the Garden
Another grand old home and grounds that has been converted into a stunning wedding location, Tavern & Chapel is a unique and in-demand venue in Port Orange overflowing with charm and unexpected finds on the property, including train tracks and an old train car (where the groom and groomsmen often get ready), a beautiful old chapel, scenic views of the Halifax River, lovely gardens, and the cozy Agatha’s Cottage, where the bride and groom can spend their wedding night. To see Kristin + Billy’s wedding at The Estate on the Halifax, click here,  and to see Molly + Oscar’s The Estate on the Halifax wedding, click here.
  • The Shores Resort & Spa
One of the most elegant, sophisticated venues in the area, The Shores offers wide beaches, stylish ceremonies on the beachside deck, ballrooms with breathtaking views of the Atlantic and the Halifax River, and top-notch cuisine. It’s a popular venue for couples planning a destination wedding in Daytona Beach, since all the wedding guests can stay on the property in quiet Daytona Beach Shores and soak in the sun and sea air.
  • Sunset Harbor Yacht Club
A private yacht club with Medeterranian-style architecture and a fantastic panoramic view of the Halifax River, right in Downtown Daytona Beach, Sunset Harbor has long been one of the most popular wedding venues in Daytona, offering dockside ceremonies and ballrooms overlooking the water. Sunset Harbor Yacht Club is currently closed; while we hope this beautiful property will reopen soon, we recommend checking out Halifax River Yacht Club, Palm Coast Yacht Club, and Smyrna Yacht Club in the meantime. To see Kelly + Jeff’s nautical-inspired Sunset Harbor wedding, click here
  • Wilbur Boathouse
Quaint and cozy, the Wilbur Boathouse sits on a quiet piece of property on the Halifax River, overlooking unspoiled wetlands. The lawn is the perfect spot for outdoor wedding ceremonies, while the boathouse itself has an invitingly rustic atmosphere for smaller receptions.
  • Oceanside Country Club
Founded in 1907, with John D. Rockefeller as one of the original members, Oceanside Country Club in Ormond Beach offers the polished atmosphere you would expect from a country club with so much history, and a staff that is second to none. The ballroom features floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the golf course. Because it is a private club, Oceanside takes a limited number of weddings each year, and the staff puts great care into each event. To see Kristy + Nick’s Oceanside Country Club wedding, click here.

If you haven’t yet found a photographer, Danny and I hope you’ll consider allowing us to document the day your marriage begins! Please visit our website, or to see our most recent weddings, click here. Happy wedding planning!

  1. Mark Klingelhoefer says:

Wilbur Boathouse is a beautiful venue, but poorly maintained A/C ruined our reception

In late June of 2015, we were married on the beach adjacent to the Wilbur Boat House. We paid $1,491 to rent the boathouse from 8:00 am – 10:00 PM for the reception. The wedding was at 2:00 and, after taking pictures, we, the bride and groom, arrived to the boathouse at 4:00 to find that the AC was not working. The High temp for the day was 86 Degrees. Upon arriving, I was forced to, rather than enjoying my reception, leave messages with someone from the Boathouse and speak to them when they called me back to arrange repairs for the A/C. It took 1 hour for the repair man to arrive and 1 hour for the repair. By this time (6:00) ¾ of the guests had left because of the unbearable heat in the boathouse. The lack of proper maintenance of the boathouse’s AC ruined our wedding reception.
A few weeks later, having not received our damage deposit back, I emailed them and requested that a portion of our $1,491 be returned. I was told:
“I am very sorry to hear that many of your wedding guests had to leave early due to the AC situation. You should be receiving your $300 damage deposit back any day now. Our accountant is retired and has been traveling some, but I believe that he has been home this past week and working on boathouse paperwork. I did forward your email to the President of the Board for the Boathouse. We have a Board meeting coming up next Monday evening, 07/13. I am sure that the Board will discuss your situation then, and I will let you know what they decide on.”
After more than a month of no contact, we were told that they did not plan to reimburse us any of our money, and they believe that a 2 hour window with no A/C in the middle of the reception was acceptable.
