I've
always been
storyteller.

But I never set out to be a photographer. I was (and still am!) going to be a writer. And then as I worked toward that writing goal, someone put a camera in my hand and asked me to try telling stories with something besides words. So with an English nerd's love for character and tone, a romantic's love for poignant beauty, and a realist's love for imperfection, I dove in.

I've
always been a
story-teller.

That was back in 2010.

Since that time, photography has changed much of my life. It's brought me some of my dearest friends. It's reshaped the way my husband Danny and I view serving others. It has even literally taken me around the world. One thing that hasn't changed: my soul-stirring desire to tell stories that feel so real you're sure you knew them before you heard them. Or saw them. It's my privilege to tell those stories for my clients, and for the generations of their families still to come.

Statistically, Thanksgiving through Valentine’s Day is “engagement season” — the time of year when the majority of couples get engaged. Danny and I followed that pattern by getting engaged in January, and as soon as it was official, we felt overwhelmed with wedding planning to-dos. But along with the initial to-dos, there are a few […]

It’s been almost five years since Danny and I celebrated our wedding. Almost five years since the butterflies and the beautiful flowers, the couldn’t-have-been-better weather and my too-tight corset. Heading into our wedding, I knew that not everything would turn out perfect (although I definitely didn’t anticipate getting locked out of the house and ending up […]

As a bride planning my own wedding (before I became a photographer myself), I didn’t know where to begin when it came to the photography. I asked some friends who they’d had photograph their weddings, but beyond that, I didn’t even know how to research wedding photography. Basically, I didn’t know what I didn’t know. And unfortunately, […]

Danny and I live just outside of Daytona Beach and we had our own wedding here, so when it comes to Daytona Beach wedding venues, we’ve pretty much been to all of them — whether we’ve been there to shoot, to attend a wedding, or to scout out the venue for a wedding of our […]

When I wrote about shooting wedding day family portraits nearly a year ago, I mentioned how we never went over the specific location for family portraits with our own wedding photographer. But there’s something else we didn’t do that was an even bigger issue: We didn’t have a list of the family groupings that we wanted […]

When planning a wedding, just about every couple knows they’ll need someone to take care of flowers, someone to handle a cake, someone to cover photography, someone to officially marry them. Those are some of the necessities. But when I was planning my own wedding, there was something I never considered: Bringing in someone unexpected […]
