I've
always been
storyteller.

But I never set out to be a photographer. I was (and still am!) going to be a writer. And then as I worked toward that writing goal, someone put a camera in my hand and asked me to try telling stories with something besides words. So with an English nerd's love for character and tone, a romantic's love for poignant beauty, and a realist's love for imperfection, I dove in.

I've
always been a
story-teller.

That was back in 2010.

Since that time, photography has changed much of my life. It's brought me some of my dearest friends. It's reshaped the way my husband Danny and I view serving others. It has even literally taken me around the world. One thing that hasn't changed: my soul-stirring desire to tell stories that feel so real you're sure you knew them before you heard them. Or saw them. It's my privilege to tell those stories for my clients, and for the generations of their families still to come.

Amy + Chris – An Ormond Beach Engagement | Central Florida Wedding Photography

Thursday, June 20th, 2013

They met online, last winter, then met in person to make sure the other person really was who he/she appeared to be. And wasn’t, Chris quipped, “A mouth breather or something.” Amy laughed, shaking her head.

That seems to be the way their relationship goes: Chris riffs; Amy can’t help but laugh; and they both wind up having a wonderful time. They bonded over their shared love of God and the Pacific Northwest and antiquing, and they quickly mapped out a life together. It will officially begin with their Leu Gardens wedding this winter — one year to the day after that successful first date.

We got together with Amy — whom I’ve known for a couple years, thanks to our joint involvement in Southland Student Conferences, and who introduced Jennifer to me early last year — and Chris last week for their engagement session on the Halifax River. Much fun and silliness and cuteness ensued. Is everybody having a good time yet? Yes? Okay, carry on!Amy, you looked amazing! Chris looked pretty spiffy himself. But it was definitely his T-rex socks that stole the show.Work it!It’s only fitting that this all-things-antique-loving groom found his all-things-antique-loving bride a stunning circa-1920’s engagement ringSince Amy said willow trees are her favorite, it only made sense that we made the most of the willows at Rockefeller Gardens.

And that we made the most of Amy playing sassy. Because, as she patiently explained to Chris, the camera loved her.To cap off the shoot, we headed over to the other side of the river and took a stroll around the dock. There were fishermen — not catching fish, but enjoying the sunset. There were people sharing an early dinner at a nearby picnic table. There was an older couple, hand in hand, who paused, nervous that they would interrupt our pictures until we ushered them past us. And at that moment, I hoped Amy and Chris will share many an evening as happy as that one when they’re old and gray, too — and still hand in hand. What had started as a drizzly afternoon wound up a truly lovely evening.Want to see more? Go ahead, indulge yourself — check out Amy + Chris’s slideshow below, and be sure to browse their PASS gallery.

Amy and Chris, thank you so much for spending this wonderful afternoon with us! We were excited for your wedding before, but now we can’t wait!
