I've
always been
storyteller.

But I never set out to be a photographer. I was (and still am!) going to be a writer. And then as I worked toward that writing goal, someone put a camera in my hand and asked me to try telling stories with something besides words. So with an English nerd's love for character and tone, a romantic's love for poignant beauty, and a realist's love for imperfection, I dove in.

I've
always been a
story-teller.

That was back in 2010.

Since that time, photography has changed much of my life. It's brought me some of my dearest friends. It's reshaped the way my husband Danny and I view serving others. It has even literally taken me around the world. One thing that hasn't changed: my soul-stirring desire to tell stories that feel so real you're sure you knew them before you heard them. Or saw them. It's my privilege to tell those stories for my clients, and for the generations of their families still to come.

Starting Small but Dreaming Big

Tuesday, July 23rd, 2013

I’d always had an excuse: I really didn’t like my shoes; my schedule was too hectic except during the hottest part of the day; the workout clothes I had really weren’t good for running.

So I got rid of the excuses. Except for days when I’m shooting a wedding, I can truly set my own schedule, and I can build my schedule around exercising. Danny got a coupon in his email last week for 20% off all purchases at The Sports Authority, so we headed out there Friday evening and I got what I needed to really feel like I can make this happen — and spent enough money to make me feel like I have to make this happen. And Saturday morning I took my first run of a new era. The I-will-run-no-fewer-than-three-times-per-week-and-do-yoga-at-least-twice-a-week era.

No excuses.~ Laura

New pink work out gear is very motivating, love it! Where do you yoga? I’ve been meaning to get back to yoga, I love Hot House on Hand Ave…

  2. Allen And-Carol Adams says:

Inspiring. Needing to get off couch & do the same. Thanks, Laura. ;). Carol
