I've
always been
storyteller.

But I never set out to be a photographer. I was (and still am!) going to be a writer. And then as I worked toward that writing goal, someone put a camera in my hand and asked me to try telling stories with something besides words. So with an English nerd's love for character and tone, a romantic's love for poignant beauty, and a realist's love for imperfection, I dove in.

I've
always been a
story-teller.

That was back in 2010.

Since that time, photography has changed much of my life. It's brought me some of my dearest friends. It's reshaped the way my husband Danny and I view serving others. It has even literally taken me around the world. One thing that hasn't changed: my soul-stirring desire to tell stories that feel so real you're sure you knew them before you heard them. Or saw them. It's my privilege to tell those stories for my clients, and for the generations of their families still to come.

Friendsgiving 2015

Thursday, November 26th, 2015

For years, I had watched people sharing photographs of Friendsgiving get togethers, and for years I had wanted to do the same. This year it finally happened, because as it turned out, we have friends who had always wanted to pull together a Friendsgiving, too!

It was a quiet and cozy get together, a Florida-themed meal that pulled from local flavors and ingredients and nature. We decorated a low-tide-inspired table, feasted on locally raised chicken (mojo) and locally raised sausage (in the cornbread stuffing) and locally grown sweet potatoes and kale from our own backyard, and capped off the evening with a Florida-appropriate key lime pie.

Friends, it was lovely.Friendsgiving 2015 (4)Friendsgiving 2015 (11)Friendsgiving 2015 (6)Friendsgiving 2015 (2)Friendsgiving 2015 (5)Friendsgiving 2015 (3)Friendsgiving 2015 (1)Friendsgiving 2015 (8)Friendsgiving 2015 (10)Friendsgiving 2015 (7)Friendsgiving 2015 (9)The menu:

Lemon-rosemary bourbon cocktails
Wine (from the South of France, not Florida — this was our one big concession in the Floridian menu!)
Assorted cheese and crackers
Homemade crescent rolls
Crab and corn chowder
Mojo roasted chicken
Cornbread stuffing with sausage, leeks, and cranberries
Mashed sweet potatoes with jalapeno honey
Kale sauteed with onion
Meringue-topped key lime pie

Today Danny and I are celebrating a more traditional Thanksgiving with family, and we wish you and yours a very happy Thanksgiving, too!
