I've
always been
storyteller.

But I never set out to be a photographer. I was (and still am!) going to be a writer. And then as I worked toward that writing goal, someone put a camera in my hand and asked me to try telling stories with something besides words. So with an English nerd's love for character and tone, a romantic's love for poignant beauty, and a realist's love for imperfection, I dove in.

I've
always been a
story-teller.

That was back in 2010.

Since that time, photography has changed much of my life. It's brought me some of my dearest friends. It's reshaped the way my husband Danny and I view serving others. It has even literally taken me around the world. One thing that hasn't changed: my soul-stirring desire to tell stories that feel so real you're sure you knew them before you heard them. Or saw them. It's my privilege to tell those stories for my clients, and for the generations of their families still to come.

Ormond Beach Family Portraits at Sunrise

Friday, July 7th, 2017

When a big extended family shows up with siblings and cousins and two sets of grandparents all in the mix, it makes for a really fun morning!

This sweet family, on their annual summer beach vacation, came to me because their friends had just done a shoot with me when they were on their own Florida vacation a couple weeks before. So I already knew they were going to be fun. We got together just after sunrise on what was supposed to be an overcast morning. Instead, we had hazy sunshine on a beach awash with tidal pools. And so much fun!
Looking so good, you guys!
I can’t say enough good things about these kids. They were kind. They were cooperative, with each other and with taking directions. And they were just so pleased to all be at the beach with their parents and grandparents and cousins. Except, after a while, the littlest guy. (He thought they should all be at breakfast together instead.)
Reason #347 why kids shouldn’t want to grow up:
And reason #348:
Now we come to another of my favorites: our attempt to take a classic just-the-guys portrait. I think it’s safe to say this one will be a family classic.
Once we’d wrapped up the actual posing-for-portraits part of the session, we sent the kids off to play….
I couldn’t have loved this session more! Thanks for making me a part of your trip this summer!
