I've
always been
storyteller.

But I never set out to be a photographer. I was (and still am!) going to be a writer. And then as I worked toward that writing goal, someone put a camera in my hand and asked me to try telling stories with something besides words. So with an English nerd's love for character and tone, a romantic's love for poignant beauty, and a realist's love for imperfection, I dove in.

I've
always been a
story-teller.

That was back in 2010.

Since that time, photography has changed much of my life. It's brought me some of my dearest friends. It's reshaped the way my husband Danny and I view serving others. It has even literally taken me around the world. One thing that hasn't changed: my soul-stirring desire to tell stories that feel so real you're sure you knew them before you heard them. Or saw them. It's my privilege to tell those stories for my clients, and for the generations of their families still to come.

There aren’t many times that I find myself at a loss for words. I’m a talker. I talk. A lot. Except when I’m upset — then I hardly talk at all, can’t string words together into coherent sentences. On Friday, I couldn’t come up any words that seemed fitting for so many beautiful children whose […]

This whole week, we’ve been having the foggiest mornings I can recall. The air is thick with tiny water particles, clogging my eyes as soon as I step outside my door. Even at 9:00 on this December morning, it looks like dusk.Perfect for Christmas lights and a cozy Monday morning working at my desk. ~ […]

Today I’ve spent some very pleasant time wrapping Christmas gifts by my tree. Tomorrow they’re getting shipped off, and I am giddy. I would love to show you what’s inside — but that would spoil the surprise just a bit, don’t you think? ~ Laura

I feel like Christmas comes in stages. Once Halloween is over, it’s time to starting thinking about what gifts to give and when to schedule parties. Once Thanksgiving arrives, it’s time to switch over to full-time Christmas music. Once Advent begins — it really is Christmastime. At least in my mind. And this past Sunday was […]

This past Sunday, our pastor preached about how Abraham Lincoln established an annual Thanksgiving day in the most trying of times. Although days of  Thanksgiving had been observed since the pilgrims, Lincoln established the first annual Thanksgiving holiday. It took place in November 1863, only four months after the battle at Gettysburg cut short roughly […]

For months, I’d been waiting for sweater weather. For boots and scarves weather. I’d even blogged about it because I was so, so excited when it was finally time to pull my boots on. Today is gray and raw looking, and while 55 degrees sounds perfectly balmy in some states at this time of the […]
