I've
always been
storyteller.

But I never set out to be a photographer. I was (and still am!) going to be a writer. And then as I worked toward that writing goal, someone put a camera in my hand and asked me to try telling stories with something besides words. So with an English nerd's love for character and tone, a romantic's love for poignant beauty, and a realist's love for imperfection, I dove in.

I've
always been a
story-teller.

That was back in 2010.

Since that time, photography has changed much of my life. It's brought me some of my dearest friends. It's reshaped the way my husband Danny and I view serving others. It has even literally taken me around the world. One thing that hasn't changed: my soul-stirring desire to tell stories that feel so real you're sure you knew them before you heard them. Or saw them. It's my privilege to tell those stories for my clients, and for the generations of their families still to come.

I don’t know about you, but I’m loving the “Month of Thankfulness” status updates on Facebook a whole lot more than the stormy political ones that dominated my news feed for the past six weeks. But I decided not to participate. While I’m fully on board with being purposefully thankful, there’s also something that doesn’t […]

We had a wedding on Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., and a wedding on Saturday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Delighted for our couples? Of course. Thrilled with the photographs? Absolutely. Exhausted? You bet your last nickle. Today is a day for many cups of tea and a trip to the chiropractor. And probably […]

Something quite interesting has been happening lately. Danny and I have been going to bed earlier — not so much out of choice as out of our bodies forcing us to; we’ve both been falling asleep on the couch, or the floor, or in front of the computer, by 9:30 or so each night. We […]

When tourists think of Florida, they usually envision palm trees. Wide beaches. Mickey Mouse. When I think of Florida, I think of those things, too — but some of the first things that come to mind are a little different. Spanish moss. Scrub pines. Palmetto brush. Clear springs. Marsh grass. Manatees and songbirds and lizards. […]

We’re in the middle of a busy stretch: Three weddings in nine days, including two coming up this weekend, back-to-back on Friday and Saturday. Several weddings in a short time span is the norm for some photographers, but we usually space weddings out a bit more than that. Danny and I think we would probably […]

. . . it’s boots and sweaters time!Well, the scarf and hat might be a slight exaggeration. But it was 43 degrees here this morning, and you know that’s pretty much the same thing as -10 to this Florida girl! ~ Laura
