I've
always been
storyteller.

But I never set out to be a photographer. I was (and still am!) going to be a writer. And then as I worked toward that writing goal, someone put a camera in my hand and asked me to try telling stories with something besides words. So with an English nerd's love for character and tone, a romantic's love for poignant beauty, and a realist's love for imperfection, I dove in.

I've
always been a
story-teller.

That was back in 2010.

Since that time, photography has changed much of my life. It's brought me some of my dearest friends. It's reshaped the way my husband Danny and I view serving others. It has even literally taken me around the world. One thing that hasn't changed: my soul-stirring desire to tell stories that feel so real you're sure you knew them before you heard them. Or saw them. It's my privilege to tell those stories for my clients, and for the generations of their families still to come.

I’m not sure if I would define it has hopping or skipping. Maybe bounding. In any case, Julie wasn’t just walking when she came up to me in church yesterday morning, smiling as she held out her hand. “Happy birthday, and this is because we all love popcorn and I love canisters!” she said. That was […]

Sometimes you stumble across a scene that seems almost too perfect to be real. That was what happened when I walked to the end of the boardwalk last night. Danny was about twenty feet behind me, still photographing Caitlin and David where they sat on the boardwalk rail, soaking in the sunshine. I’d jogged ahead, […]

Well, it’s October. That means baseball — usually the best baseball of the year, and for the most part, the games have been great. Although I have to send a quick shout out to a few umpires for making the first two ALCS games between the Yankees and Tigers some of the best examples of […]

There is something about mountains that makes this Florida girl’s heart sing. I have miles and miles of beaches at my disposal. Ocean views galore. I can get my fill of sand between my toes and salt air in my lungs any time I want — and oftentimes, when I don’t, too. But my heart […]

We came by plane, by train, by car. We came from far-flung corners of the country — from Connecticut and Maine, from Minnesota and Illinois, from California and Arizona, from Florida and Kentucky, from Virginia and New Jersey. Even from Canada. We came wearied from our travels — from unnervingly bumpy flights, from too many […]

This morning, I hopped on a plane. All by myself. For the first time ever. True fact: I’ve only ever flown with friends or Danny in the seat beside me. Today though, I headed out on an adventure by myself . . . for a not-so-little get together with nearly 100 amazing women — all […]
