I've
always been
storyteller.

But I never set out to be a photographer. I was (and still am!) going to be a writer. And then as I worked toward that writing goal, someone put a camera in my hand and asked me to try telling stories with something besides words. So with an English nerd's love for character and tone, a romantic's love for poignant beauty, and a realist's love for imperfection, I dove in.

I've
always been a
story-teller.

That was back in 2010.

Since that time, photography has changed much of my life. It's brought me some of my dearest friends. It's reshaped the way my husband Danny and I view serving others. It has even literally taken me around the world. One thing that hasn't changed: my soul-stirring desire to tell stories that feel so real you're sure you knew them before you heard them. Or saw them. It's my privilege to tell those stories for my clients, and for the generations of their families still to come.

Maybe you could call it a mental health day. Or just a “day off,” since, other than my time chaperoning summer came last week, we really haven’t taken a full one of those in . . . over a year. Today, both Danny and I played a bit of hooky (although, truth be told, I’m […]

A couple weekends ago, I decided to make French toast. Danny had just gotten back from his Saturday morning bike ride down to Ponce Inlet and back, and we had a birthday party, filled with food, to go to at 1:00. But we needed something to eat then, and I needed to feel like I’d actually […]

Did you know you could do that — distill warm salty breezes and hammocks and powder-fine sand into the perfect scent of vacation? One spritz and I’m in the tropics. Even if I’m actually about to go make a business delivery instead. ~ Laura

I can almost imagine this little guy with a big smiley painted on his already-sunny face. And I hereby resolve to have fresh flowers in the house much, much more often. ~ Laura

Oh, and cheese. Lots and lots of cheese. I forgot to add cheese into the title of this blog post. I’m enjoying life a lot right now — the simple things, like kicking back with a Vanilla Coke and watching Netflix during a work-free (ish) weekend and planning tonight’s dinner with my parents, and Danny’s […]
