I've
always been
storyteller.

But I never set out to be a photographer. I was (and still am!) going to be a writer. And then as I worked toward that writing goal, someone put a camera in my hand and asked me to try telling stories with something besides words. So with an English nerd's love for character and tone, a romantic's love for poignant beauty, and a realist's love for imperfection, I dove in.

I've
always been a
story-teller.

That was back in 2010.

Since that time, photography has changed much of my life. It's brought me some of my dearest friends. It's reshaped the way my husband Danny and I view serving others. It has even literally taken me around the world. One thing that hasn't changed: my soul-stirring desire to tell stories that feel so real you're sure you knew them before you heard them. Or saw them. It's my privilege to tell those stories for my clients, and for the generations of their families still to come.

Well, I’ve been on a bit of a media blackout this week since I don’t want to see the results of Olympic events before I watch them on tape delay each night . . . so Nikole and Arun’s feature on Le Magnifique totally slipped under my radar! Time to fix that. I’m going to […]

A couple weekends ago, I decided to make French toast. Danny had just gotten back from his Saturday morning bike ride down to Ponce Inlet and back, and we had a birthday party, filled with food, to go to at 1:00. But we needed something to eat then, and I needed to feel like I’d actually […]

Did you read about the guy in England who recently photographed his friends’ wedding, didn’t back up the images from the memory card he used at the wedding, put the memory card in his wallet, and proceeded to lose the memory card during a bar fight the next week? Yeah, I think that calling him […]

Okay, so it’s been a while since I posted anything about photography itself. And I’ve been hearing a lot of questions about video lights and LED lights from other photographers recently, so I figured this was a good topic to introduce on the blog. We’re mostly natural light photographers, but that definitely doesn’t always work during […]

I’m not sure that I can think of a better way to kick off the week than this! Amber and Daniel put so much heart and sweat and energy into their handmade wedding this past March, so I don’t know if there are any other couples out there who are more deserving of having their […]

I haven’t personally lost anyone to war. The last member of my family who was a casualty of war was an uncle of my grandmother’s — he died in the 1920s, finally succumbing to the ravages of a mustard gas attack from his time in Europe during World War I. My grandfathers both fought in […]
