I've
always been
storyteller.

But I never set out to be a photographer. I was (and still am!) going to be a writer. And then as I worked toward that writing goal, someone put a camera in my hand and asked me to try telling stories with something besides words. So with an English nerd's love for character and tone, a romantic's love for poignant beauty, and a realist's love for imperfection, I dove in.

I've
always been a
story-teller.

That was back in 2010.

Since that time, photography has changed much of my life. It's brought me some of my dearest friends. It's reshaped the way my husband Danny and I view serving others. It has even literally taken me around the world. One thing that hasn't changed: my soul-stirring desire to tell stories that feel so real you're sure you knew them before you heard them. Or saw them. It's my privilege to tell those stories for my clients, and for the generations of their families still to come.

There are a lot of reasons that I’m happy today: Danny and I are editing two beautiful weddings’ worth of pictures from the past two Saturdays, looking forward to a great engagement session this coming weekend — and today, our lovely couple Nikole and Arun took center stage on the fabulous Le Magnifique blog! Today […]

This little guy came to visit the other night. This being Florida, it’s hardly a banner day when you spot a lizard. They’re under every leaf and on every sidewalk. But they aren’t usually hanging out on my front door, peeping in at me. I had to smile. grab a camera. Because it was fun, […]

From about age six on, I spent my entire childhood and teenaged years (and quite a bit of time right up into the present, too) writing short stories, poems, and novels (the latter of which I almost never completed). No matter the genre, I was a continuous editor — and I think that might be […]

It’s amazing what you can go without — then suddenly experience for the first time and realize you never want to be without again. That’s how Danny and I feel about the Opteka Professional Wrist Grip Strap. (Thank you, Zach & Jody for touting the importance of hand straps during your recent creativeLIVE workshop!) The […]

Last week we received a special delivery that we had eagerly anticipated for several weeks. When we opened it, I had to gasp. This flushmount album just oozes luxury, from the soft leather to the rich metal cameo strip to the quality of the printing inside. In fact, it’s hard for me to put this […]

In three words: I loved it. In five words: I didn’t take many pictures. So, although I may or may not eventually post some more New Orleans shots on the blog, I hope you’ll please enjoy this one to the fullest, or as much as you can enjoy a photo of a name badge: I […]
