LAURA YANG

I've
always been
storyteller.

But I never set out to be a photographer. I was (and still am!) going to be a writer. And then as I worked toward that writing goal, someone put a camera in my hand and asked me to try telling stories with something besides words. So with an English nerd's love for character and tone, a romantic's love for poignant beauty, and a realist's love for imperfection, I dove in.

I've
always been a
story-teller.

That was back in 2010.

Since that time, photography has changed much of my life. It's brought me some of my dearest friends. It's reshaped the way my husband Danny and I view serving others. It has even literally taken me around the world. One thing that hasn't changed: my soul-stirring desire to tell stories that feel so real you're sure you knew them before you heard them. Or saw them. It's my privilege to tell those stories for my clients, and for the generations of their families still to come.

Who better for a double date inspiration photo shoot than two couples who are longtime friends? And where better for a vintage photo shoot than Downtown St. Augustine? As yesterday afternoon proved, the answers are clearly “No one” and “Nowhere.” Our Vintage Double Date styled shoot was a photographer’s dream! At least it was mine […]

Every year, I tell myself that this Christmas will be different. This year, I’ll get my shopping finished early, so I won’t be frantically wrapping gifts on Christmas Eve. This year, I’ll bake lots of cookies. This year, I’ll read Christmas-themed devotionals. Well, this year, I kept a watchful eye on my calendar. Christmas simply wasn’t going to sneak […]

I might be a tad biased (I’ve babysat these children since #1 was not quite 2, #2 was six months away from making his debut into the world, and #3 had yet to be imagined, and two years ago they were my junior bridesmaid, Bible bearer, and ring bearer, respectively), but I think this is […]

Twice in my last three blog posts, I’ve mentioned “my chronically sick horse” and “my foundering horse.” So I figured it’s time to officially introduce Bravissima. Here she is, eating — what she does best, and what she clearly enjoys most. At five years old, I fell in love with horses. Specifically, black Arabian horses (thank […]

It might be the odd assortment of hairbrushes, notebooks, and playing cards on my bathroom counter. Or it might be the ever-growing collection of Amazon boxes we haven’t quite managed to get to the recycle bin/dumpster (but thank you, Danny, for getting quite a few of them there this afternoon!). I’m really not sure which […]

They held hands, and sometimes he held her skirt so the layers of tulle wouldn’t drag behind her. They giggled and flirted, like two teenagers just discovering love. And they looked gorgeous, the dusky autumn light washing over Michelle and Brian as they pressed their cheeks together, just soaking in the moment, happy as newlyweds. […]
