LAURA YANG

I've
always been
storyteller.

But I never set out to be a photographer. I was (and still am!) going to be a writer. And then as I worked toward that writing goal, someone put a camera in my hand and asked me to try telling stories with something besides words. So with an English nerd's love for character and tone, a romantic's love for poignant beauty, and a realist's love for imperfection, I dove in.

I've
always been a
story-teller.

That was back in 2010.

Since that time, photography has changed much of my life. It's brought me some of my dearest friends. It's reshaped the way my husband Danny and I view serving others. It has even literally taken me around the world. One thing that hasn't changed: my soul-stirring desire to tell stories that feel so real you're sure you knew them before you heard them. Or saw them. It's my privilege to tell those stories for my clients, and for the generations of their families still to come.

As she sat in front of the mirror that morning, her hair twisted into curlers, Jessica murmured, “I hope I don’t cry.” “You will,” her ten bridesmaids unanimously assured her. At the wedding ceremony a few hours later, as she faced Stephen in front of their family and friends and they promised their lives to […]

As a wedding photographer, I’ve learned so many things. About weddings and photography and running a photography business, of course. Also about life, and people, and families. Here are a few of the things I’ve learned in this wonderfully fun, crazy, exhausting, sometimes stressful and always exciting job. — 1.) Relaxed photographers beget relaxed photography subjects. […]

We’re back! Back to palm trees, wide white beaches, palmettos, humid nights, sudden rainstorms, vibrant bougainvilleas, skinny pines, chirping alligators, pesky mosquitoes, our sweet home. And now I’m off to an overnight meeting in Ocala. One night in my own bed, then gone again. And then off to Orlando bright and early Saturday for wedding […]

For me, choosing my wedding’s colors was one of the hardest parts of planning. I’ve never been someone who had one favorite color, and there were just so many gorgeous shades to choose from once I started wading through bridesmaid dresses. I bounced from wanting my girls in a soft china blue to a muted […]

She said she couldn’t wait to be called Mrs. Staley. On their wedding day, Denie had to wait for a bit longer though, because a storm blew in at the exact time they were supposed to exchange their vows in front of The Casements, the place where she had always dreamed of getting married. But, […]
