LAURA YANG

I've
always been
storyteller.

But I never set out to be a photographer. I was (and still am!) going to be a writer. And then as I worked toward that writing goal, someone put a camera in my hand and asked me to try telling stories with something besides words. So with an English nerd's love for character and tone, a romantic's love for poignant beauty, and a realist's love for imperfection, I dove in.

I've
always been a
story-teller.

That was back in 2010.

Since that time, photography has changed much of my life. It's brought me some of my dearest friends. It's reshaped the way my husband Danny and I view serving others. It has even literally taken me around the world. One thing that hasn't changed: my soul-stirring desire to tell stories that feel so real you're sure you knew them before you heard them. Or saw them. It's my privilege to tell those stories for my clients, and for the generations of their families still to come.

So often, I find myself daydreaming of exotic locations. Wanting a change of pace and a change of scenery. I dream about St. Lucia, where we honeymooned. The Baths at Virgin Gorda, where I would love to take a family holiday someday when we have several mini-mes running around us. Hunan, China, the Cinque Terre […]

There’s been a lot of buzz on the internet about unplugged weddings lately. We’ve never suggested our couples have an unplugged wedding — but I think it can be a wonderful idea nonetheless. What is an unplugged wedding? It’s a wedding where the couple request, either in print or in a pre-ceremony announcement, that their guests […]

When they met, it was like a scene out of a romantic comedy: A potential romantic interest Denie had not clicked with brought Tyler, who he knew through work, into Denie’s office. “Denie, meet Tyler. Tyler, meet Denie,” he said. Then he left, leaving Denie a wee bit flustered. Tyler insisted that he’d been charmed — […]

When I was a teenager, it was an annual tradition, and my favorite part of the year: Spending a week at my church’s summer camp at Camp Kulaqua. A week of worship and getting blobbed in the spring and meeting new friends and competing in ridiculous games. Now I’m a little too old to go […]
